Today, On the 9th of June 2026, Ability Development Society of Nepal (ADSoN) is conducting a Training and Distribution Program of Tactile Teaching Learning Materials for Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) students at Aadarsha Saula: Yubak Secondary School, Bungmati, Lalitpur with the funding support of The Rose International Fund for Children (TRIFC).

The training is engaging BVI students from KG to Grade 4, their caretakers and the resource teachers in practical sessions on Orientation and Mobility (O&M), Daily Living Skills (DLS), personal hygiene, physical exercise, hand-washing techniques, clock food method, proper brushing practices and the importance of maintaining a daily routine.

A total of 24 students, 2 caretakers and 4 resource teachers are actively participating in the program. The sessions are interactive, fun and designed to build confidence, independence and essential life skills among young learners.

The training is being facilitated by Mr. Hom Nath Aryal, Executive Committee Member and Lead Trainer of ADSoN.

Together, we are creating opportunities for inclusive learning and empowering children with visual impairments to lead more independent and meaningful lives.

This week’s 26th episode of the weekly radio program We Are All Able features Mr. Pankaj Pradhananga, Founder and CEO of Impact Adventure.

In this inspiring episode, Mr. Pradhananga shares his remarkable 30-year journey in the tourism sector and his commitment to promoting “Tourism for All.” He discusses how he became involved in accessible tourism for Persons with Disabilities and reflects on his first experience hosting Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) travelers.
He also highlights his efforts in conducting disability-inclusive tourism orientations in Chitwan and Pokhara for tourist guides, hotel owners and transportation providers, encouraging them to make tourism services more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

The discussion further explores the importance of advocating for the inclusion of senior citizens, children, women and Persons with Disabilities within the tourism industry. Mr. Pradhananga shares his involvement in the development of accessible trails, barrier-free physical infrastructure, ramps, transportation services and tactile facilities. He emphasizes that alongside policy development, greater awareness and effective implementation are essential to achieving truly inclusive tourism.

He also calls for stronger collaboration among private sector stakeholders and tourism-related organizations, including Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), NATO and NATA, to take collective responsibility for advancing accessible tourism in Nepal. Successful Completion of Training and Distribution Program for BVI Students

Following the successful completion of the day training program on 8th June 2026, ADSoN distributed 54 sets of Tactile Teaching Learning Materials to Aadarsha Secondary School, Layaku, Bhaktapur.

The materials are designed to help Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) students to understand basic concepts such as human body parts, fruits, animals, shapes and sizes through touch, exploration, and hands-on learning. These tactile resources will support the development of concepts related to size, shape, and color, enhance multi-sensory learning, increase students’ motivation and promote active classroom participation among BVI and Multiple Disabilities with Visual Impairment (MDVI) students.

The formal distribution program was chaired by Mr. Rabendra Raj Pandey, Chairperson of ADSoN. The Chief Guest was Mr. Bal Krishna Shrestha, Ward Chairperson of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Ward No. 4, while Mr. Buddhi Kumar Gho, Principal of Aadarsha Secondary School, attended as a special guest.

ADSoN is committed to engaging local government representatives in such initiatives to help them better understand the educational needs of BVI students and encourage local ownership and sustainability of inclusive education programs.

Success Story: Sunita Tamang

Sunita Tamang, a 21-year-old student from Dolakha, is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree (BBS Second Year) at Padma Kanya Campus. Born with a physical disability affecting her left leg and backbone, Sunita has faced many challenges in mobility and daily life. However, her determination and commitment to education have never wavered.

ADSoN & trifc.org has been supporting Sunita through educational scholarships since her school days. She also successfully completed a three-month internship at ADSoN, where she gained valuable office and administrative skills. Recently, she participated in ADSoN’s Basic Computer and English Language Training Program, further strengthening her confidence and employability. As soon as she finishes Computer and English Language Training, she got Job.
We are delighted to share that Sunita has secured an entry-level position as an Office Assistant at B.H.M Construction and Engineering. This achievement marks an important step toward her independence and professional growth.

At ADSoN, we continuously work to connect persons with disabilities with private sector organizations and local OPDs, creating opportunities for skill development, employment, and long-term career growth. We strongly believe that economic empowerment is key to enabling persons with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in society.

Support for Persons with Disabilities at NDA

On 3 June 2026, ADSoN handed over essential items to Khagendra New Life Home (NDA), Jorpati, to support the daily needs of persons with disabilities. The materials were provided through funds raised by the Good Deeds Club of Lincoln School during an art exhibition organized in collaboration with Bodhisattvas In Action (BIA) and ADSoN.

We sincerely thank Lincoln School, BIA, NDA and all supporters for making this initiative possible. Together, we continue to create positive change and promote inclusion for persons with disabilities.

Our 25th episode of the weekly radio program “We Are All Able” features Mr. Bimal Poudyal, the Community Eye Specialist who has been serving in the eye care sector since 1991. He is also a Master Trainer in eye health and has dedicated his career to improving eye care services and preventing avoidable blindness in Nepal.

In this insightful episode, Mr. Poudyal shares his inspiring journey in the eye health sector and discusses the causes of blindness and visual impairment among children and adults. He explains the differences between total blindness and low vision, the challenges faced by persons with low vision in their daily lives and the importance of early assessment and intervention.

He also highlights the critical role of the Rubella vaccine in preventing childhood blindness and emphasizes the need for regular eye screening, especially for children under five years of age. According to him, timely identification and treatment can significantly improve vision and prevent blindness in many cases.

The discussion further explores available support systems, educational tools and assistive methods that help persons with low vision to read, write and participate more independently in society. He also encourages regular eye examinations after the age of 40 to reduce the risk of blindness later in life.

This meaningful conversation promotes awareness, ability, inclusion, resilience and equal opportunities for all.

Our 24th episode of the weekly radio program “We Are All Able” features Ms. Luni Shakya, Outreach Program Director at Self Help Group for Cerebral Palsy (SGCP).

In this insightful episode, she shares her inspiring journey in the disability sector and highlights the impactful works of Sathi Sansar, Pokhara, established in 2062 B.S. The discussion covers special education programs, home visit support for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), inclusive education for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and the importance of proper assessment to identify the real needs of children with CP.

She further explains how Cerebral Palsy occurs, the importance of regular exercise and rehabilitation to reduce the severity of CP and the vital role parents play in the growth and development of their children. The episode also shares information about the admission process for children with CP at SGCP and the “Care for Carer” program designed to support parents and caregivers.
