Meet inspiring community leaders and young environmental stewards taking action for cleaner spaces and healthier coastlines across India.
In Vaishali, Bihar, Rituraj Thakur, District Organization Commissioner (Scout), and the Bharat Scouts and Guides are preparing to mark World Cleanup Day 2026 through their initiative, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities.” Young people involved in responsible waste practices and community action help build clean, sustainable habits from an early age—advancing the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mission LiFE.
In Navi Mumbai, environmental leaders are working to protect vulnerable coastal and mangrove ecosystems. Nandakumar Pawar of Vanashakti is encouraging action at Sarsole Jetty, while Dharmesh Barai, Founder of Environment Life Foundation, and his team of Mangrove Soldiers are mobilizing people at Shiv Mandir, Karave Jetty, Nerul.
Their work reminds us that protecting the planet cannot wait for another generation or another date on the calendar. From teaching children to reduce waste at the source to removing litter from coastlines and safeguarding mangroves, every responsible effort contributes to meaningful, lasting change.
