Continuing Our Commitment to Education & Literacy
Yesterday, 9 September 2026, just a day after World Literacy Day, the Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu (RCBK) had the privilege of visiting Shree Ichangu Narayan Basic School, “where young voices learn to fly,” in Nagarjun Municipality–3, Kathmandu.
The visit was part of RCBK’s continued commitment to education and literacy and our efforts to create meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve.
We were joined by Rtn. Rajesh Thapa, Member Secretary of the Basic Education & Literacy Committee of Rotary International District 3292, Nepal & Bhutan, Rtn. Nilan Mahat, President, RCBK and Service Projects Chair Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa, RCBK.
Shree Ichangu Narayan Basic School is one of the four schools adopted by the Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu. Established in 2022 BS (1965 AD), the community-based public school provides education from Early Childhood Development through Grade 8, serving approximately 180 students with 10–12 teachers.
A special appreciation goes to our Past President Rtn. Bidur Dhamala, who has been supporting the school with a contribution of NPR 100,000 every year for the past three years along with other 3 schools.
RCBK sincerely thanks PP Rtn. Bidur Dhamala for his generosity, dedication, and continued commitment to the education and future of young children.
His sustained contribution is a wonderful example of how individual commitment, combined with Rotary’s collective efforts, can create meaningful change in our communities.
At RCBK, we believe that education is one of the strongest foundations for building a better future. We remain committed to supporting schools, empowering students, and creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and achieve their dreams.
