Karuna Foundation Nepal (KFN) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Michigan on 24 July 2026, marking an important milestone in advancing education, scientific research, capacity building, and disability inclusion.

Through this partnership, KFN and the University of Michigan will collaborate on joint research, academic exchange, technical training, professional development, knowledge sharing, and evidence-based innovation. The collaboration aims to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the quality of services for children with autism and their families.

Karuna Foundation Nepal sincerely appreciates the University of Michigan for its commitment to this partnership and looks forward to creating meaningful and lasting impact together.

A wheelchair was handed over to Mr. Raikarna Rai of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality–4 in the presence of Ward Member Mr. Bhaba Ram Shrestha, marking an important step towards improving his mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Access to appropriate assistive devices empowers persons with disabilities to participate more actively in their families and communities while living with greater dignity and confidence.

Through the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP), implemented in collaboration with local governments and community stakeholders, we remain committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities receive the support they need to lead independent and inclusive lives.

After six years of being unable to walk, Ms. Devi Maya Karki of Chaudandigadhi Municipality–6 received a wheelchair through the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP), handed over by Mayor Kaluman Lama.

More than a mobility device, the wheelchair represents renewed freedom, dignity, and hope for a more independent life. Recognizing that rehabilitation goes beyond physical support, the Mayor also committed to arranging skill-based livelihood training for Ms. Karki and her husband, helping them move towards greater self-reliance and economic security.

The District-Level Stakeholders Meeting in Solukhumbu District was successfully concluded, chaired by the District Coordination Committee Chair. The meeting brought together the Deputy Mayor of Solududhkunda Municipality, Acting Chief District Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, representatives from security agencies, government and non-government organizations, media, and other key stakeholders.

The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration, shared responsibility, and local-level commitment to advancing disability prevention, rehabilitation, and inclusion through the DPRP.

The District-Level Stakeholders Meeting of the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP) was successfully concluded in Okhaldhunga District, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen coordination, shared ownership, and collective action for disability prevention and rehabilitation.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tek Raj Bhattarai, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, with the presence of district-level government officials, local representatives, security officials, political party representatives, journalists, non-governmental organizations, and other concerned stakeholders.

The discussion highlighted the importance of strong inter-sectoral collaboration, local leadership, and coordinated efforts to ensure effective implementation of DPRP and to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for persons with disabilities and their families.
