The Nepal Forum of Science Journalists (NFSJ) organized “Meet the Scientists – Episode 9,” featuring Dr. Mohan B. Chand from the Climate and Disaster Research Center (HiCCDRC), Department of Environmental Science, Kathmandu University.
Dr. Chand presented an insightful analysis of the 26 August Rasuwa glacier-related flood, linking the event to climate change and the changing face of Himalayan mountain hazards, with a particular focus on the Himalayan cryosphere.
The presentation was followed by a meaningful interaction between climate scientist and science journalists, making the session highly insightful, productive, and useful for understanding emerging climate and mountain hazards and communicating them effectively to the public.

Barsha is an 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. She is a WWF Nepal Scholar and an Environment Analyst at Himalayan Research Forum Nepal. Barsha is also part of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management. Her work integrates research, policy, and storytelling to advance environmental conservation and public understanding of biodiversity and climate resilience.
