Learning beyond classrooms ✨📚

An educational & cultural field trip to Panauti — exploring Shivaji’s Mandir and the peaceful heights of Namobuddha — became a living history lesson for our Grade 9 & 10 students from Himalaya Secondary School, Nepal Adarsha School, and Panchakanya School.
Watching them connect with our heritage, culture, and stories that shaped our nation reminded us why experiential learning matters.

Today is Janai Purnima (full moon), when we honor family relationships and the change of season. We have quati/mixed bean soup on this day.

Janai Purnima, also known as Raksha Bandhan in some regions, is a significant festival celebrated primarily in Nepal and parts of India. It usually falls in August during the full moon day of the Shrawan month in the Hindu lunar calendar.

The festival has various cultural meanings but generally symbolizes the bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a sacred thread called "janai" or "rakhi" around their brothers' wrists, signifying protection and love. In return, brothers give gifts and promise to protect their sisters.

In Nepal, Janai Purnima also holds religious significance for many Hindus. Men change their sacred threads during this festival, and it is common to perform rituals at sacred riverbanks. Various local customs and traditions may accompany the celebrations, making it a vibrant and meaningful occasion.

✨Celebrating Academic Excellence! ✨

Daya Foundation proudly organized a felicitation program to recognize the outstanding SEE graduates (2081) from our supported government schools – Nepal Adarsha Secondary School, Himalaya Secondary School, and Panchakanya Secondary School*.

The top three achievers from each school were honored with certificates and educational support, including financial assistance to help them pursue their Grade 11 studies (NPR 25,000 for first, 15,000 for second, and 10,000 for third position holders).

This initiative is part of our broader effort to uplift the quality of education in public schools through:

On March 18, we had the privilege of attending the 98th birth anniversary celebration of the visionary writer Shankar Lamichhane. The event was not just a tribute to his literary brilliance but also a moment to recognize and encourage the power of words through the inauguration of a book dedicated to him.

To celebrate the essence of literature and its impact, awards were presented in three categories:

🏆 Shankar Lamichhane Senior Essayist Award (Rs. 50,000) – Mr. Bijay Chalise
🏆 Shankar Lamichhane Youth Essayist Award (Rs. 25,000) – Mr. Paras Prakash Nepal
