The annual conference commemorating the 137th anniversary of Bir Hospital took place in the heart of Kathmandu city, showcasing a legacy of dedication to healthcare. During this event, the Daya Foundation’s (DF) Board and team proudly presented the Nursing Excellence Award to five outstanding nurses, while also honoring five additional nurses for their remarkable service of over thirty years.

This prestigious nursing award, named after late Indra Kala Mathema, Patron of Daya Foundation and first Matron of Bir Hospital in the 1960s, recognizes the exceptional contributions of nurses who have excelled in patient care.

The event was efficiently managed, with the nursing directors and management team ensuring a timely start to the program. A key message emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing affordable and subsidized healthcare services to the community. The celebration also attracted department heads from various other hospitals and institutions, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the healthcare sector. Many thanks to Nursing Director Sangita Shrestha Joshi.

Founding member and past president DF, Keepa Mathema Handa, leading the health sector, was invited to hand the awards along with DF President Meekha Mathema and Founding Member past president Neeva Pradhan were honored to join in the award ceremony along with DF board Sanil Joshi Rishiram Neupane, Health sector Senior Program officer Binju Shakya. It was wonderful to see smiles on well deserved award recipients.

“A Tapestry of Nepali Culture and Heritage” and honoring our roots and uniqueness - “Culture Through the Eyes of Youth” an initiative to celebrate cultural diversity and from the perspective of our youth groups. Honored to have the Chief Guest, Madan Krishna Shrestha jiu, Guest of Honor Kedar Mathema jiu and to hear their poignant remarks.

Program in collaboration with Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School, Bhim Darshan Roka Smriti Kosh. Many thanks to all the performers sharing their cultural talents the Kumari Dance, Traditional Attires from eight different ethnic groups by KPKS. Song composed and sang by no other than Anil Shahi Selina Pradhan Shahi.

Beautiful original songs on social theme by Yaman Shrestha. Recognizing the exceptional talents displayed by the Paubha Artists and Chhwali Artist. A truly remarkable turnout with respected guests, family, friends and supporters. Daya Foundation’s Free Health Camp initiatives targeting marginalized communities have been flourishing and positively embraced by the community for several years. Today, we held a Preventive Health Awareness Camp at Nepal Aadarsha Secondary School in Ganabahal, in collaboration with Chhatrapati Clinic.

As a continuation of our efforts following the free clinic, Daya Foundation is dedicated to supporting follow-up sessions. This includes providing essential medicines and facilitating minor surgeries for children attending government schools. Our commitment ensures that these vulnerable communities receive the healthcare they need for a healthier future.
