🌍 Strengthening International Geological Collaboration 🌍

The Nepal Geological Society (NGS) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Geological Society of America, one of the world’s leading professional organizations in the geosciences.

The MoU was officially signed yesterday during the opening ceremony of the Penrose Conference on Mountain Hydrogeology, organized by the Geological Society of America in Dhulikhel. This agreement formally recognizes both organizations as associated/affiliated societies and marks an important milestone in strengthening academic, scientific, and professional cooperation between Nepal and the international geological community.

This collaboration is expected to promote:

• Joint professional activities and networking
• Knowledge sharing and capacity building

The Nepal Geological Society (NGS) is pleased to share that the special technical talk program conducted on April 16, 2026, at The Wings Restro, Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur was successfully completed.

The event featured insightful and engaging presentations by Prof. Dr. Laurent Godin and Taylor Rae Morrell, who shared their latest research on Himalayan tectonics, lithospheric processes, and the influence of inherited basement structures in orogenesis. Both talks were highly informative and stimulated meaningful discussions among participants.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from NGS members, professionals, researchers, and students. The interactive session that followed the presentations provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional networking.
