When floods rise, minutes matter. 🌊
Every monsoon, communities in Sarlahi and Siraha watch the rivers with worry. This year, their districts stand better prepared.
Under the SaBaSS Project, our partners handed over life-saving search and rescue equipment to the District Disaster Management Committees of both districts:
📍 Sarlahi — Rural Development Centre (RDC Nepal) handed over a rubber rescue boat, life jackets, and carabiners worth NPR 654,835.
📍 Siraha — Dalit JanKalyan Yuba Club (DJKYC Nepal) handed over a rescue boat set, life jackets, lifebuoy, fire extinguisher, boots, gloves, and rope worth NPR 981,514.
Both handover ceremonies were led by the Chief District Officers, chairs of the respective DDMCs, with the presence of representatives from partners and Plan International Nepal; district security forces; government officials; and other key stakeholders.
Local authorities and security agencies welcomed the support, noting these materials will be crucial for humanitarian response in flood-prone areas.
Because preparedness isn't just equipment — it's the difference between waiting for help and being ready to act. 💙

SaBaSS परियोजनाअन्तर्गत हाम्रा साझेदार संस्थाहरूले दुवै जिल्लाका जिल्ला विपद् व्यवस्थापन समितिलाई खोज तथा उद्धार सामग्री हस्तान्तरण गरेका छन्:
📍 सर्लाही — Rural Development Centre (RDC Nepal) द्वारा रु. ६,५४,८३५ बराबरको रबर रेस्क्यु बोट, लाइफ ज्याकेट र क्याराबिनर हस्तान्तरण।
📍 सिरहा — Dalit JanKalyan Yuba Club (DJKYC Nepal) द्वारा रु. ९,८१,५१४ बराबरको रेस्क्यु बोट सेट, लाइफ ज्याकेट, लाइफबोय, अग्नि नियन्त्रक यन्त्र, बुट, पन्जा र डोरी हस्तान्तरण।
दुवै कार्यक्रम प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारीज्यूहरूको नेतृत्वमा सम्पन्न भएका थिए, जसमा साझेदार सँस्था र प्लान इन्टरनेशनल नेपालका पदाधिकारीहरु लगायत जिल्ला सुरक्षा निकाय, सरकारी अधिकारीहरू तथा सरोकारवालाहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।

🌊 Strengthening Disaster Response in Sindhuli!
Under the Girls Standing Strong (GSS) Project, Plan International Nepal and HANDS Nepal handed over search and rescue equipment worth approximately NPR 1 million (Rs. 997,790) to the District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), Sindhuli.
The support includes:
12-seater raft boat (1 set)
Electric pump for raft boat
Wetsuit set for search and rescue (above 5mm)
The handover ceremony was chaired by Chief District Officer and DDMC Chairperson Mr. Skim Shrestha, with participation from the Assistant CDO, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, media representatives, Plan International Nepal, and HANDS Nepal.
This support will strengthen district-level disaster response and search and rescue capacity — helping save lives and reduce losses during emergencies. 💙

प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारी एवं समितिका अध्यक्ष श्री स्किम श्रेष्ठज्यूको अध्यक्षतामा सम्पन्न कार्यक्रममा सहायक प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारी, नेपाल प्रहरी तथा सशस्त्र प्रहरी बलका प्रमुख तथा प्रतिनिधिहरू, सञ्चारकर्मी लगायतको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।
यस सहयोगले जिल्लाको विपद् प्रतिकार्य तथा खोज–उद्धार क्षमता थप सुदृढ हुनुका साथै विपद्का बेला धनजनको क्षति न्यूनीकरणमा महत्वपूर्ण योगदान पुग्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ। 💙

🏫 A new chapter for quality education in Bideha!
On 13 July 2026, under the School Improvement Project (Nirman), a two-storey, four-classroom building and newly installed play facilities were inaugurated and handed over to the School Management Committee of Shree Rastriya Basic School, Chikna, Bideha-3, Dhanusha.
The child- and disability-friendly classrooms, play facilities, and boundary wall were formally handed over to SMC Chairperson Mukesh Raya in the presence of Chief Guest Bechan Das, Mayor of Bideha Municipality; Special Guest Tolraj Upadhyaya, Chief Administrative Officer; ward chairpersons; head teachers of neighbouring schools; and students, parents, and teachers, along with representatives from Aasaman Nepal and Plan International Nepal.
Head Teacher Satyanarayan Pajiyar extended gratitude to Aasaman Nepal, Plan International Nepal, and Plan International Japan for their support, sharing his vision that the school will stand as a model of quality education — even for secondary-level schools in the municipality.
Every child deserves a safe and inspiring space to learn, play, and grow. 💙💛

🎉 A milestone for nutrition in Jumla!

Haat Sinja Health Post in Kanakasundari Rural Municipality has officially been declared a Nutrition-Friendly Health Institution.

This achievement reflects three years of collective effort through the Girls Standing Strong Project, where the local government, health workers, communities and partners worked together to strengthen nutrition services, build the capacity of health workers and improve access to quality care.

Together, we are creating healthier futures for women, children, and families in Jumla. 💚

🎉 A healthier future for adolescents in Bardiya starts here!

Five health facilities in Gulariya and Madhuwan municipalities have officially been certified as Adolescent Friendly Health Facilities. 💙

With support from the KOICA-funded ASRHR Phase II Project, implemented by Radha Krishna Tharu Janasewa Kendra (RKJS), health workers have been trained, facilities strengthened and youth-friendly services expanded, ensuring adolescents can access the quality care, information and support they deserve.

Together, we're making adolescent health services safer, more accessible and more inclusive. 🌱
