The 53rd Annual Event and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Japanese University Alumni Association of Nepal (JUAAN) was successfully held on March 27, 2026, at The Plaza, Pulchowk, bringing together members, distinguished guests, and alumni.

The AGM began with member introductions, followed by presentations on JUAAN’s annual activities and auditing, reflecting on the organization’s progress and future direction.
The AGM was followed by the 53rd JUAAN Annual Event, where we were honored to have Chief Guest Shinto Yasuharu, Deputy Chief of Mission and Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Nepal. In his remarks, he highlighted the growing strength of Nepal-Japan relations and recognized the important role of JUAAN members as a bridge in fostering economic and cultural connections. He also emphasized the contributions of Nepalis in Japan and encouraged further efforts to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Pawan Bhattarai, President of JUAAN, shared his experience representing Nepal at the 6th Japan Alumni Conference. He highlighted the significance of the global platform in fostering dialogue and collaboration among alumni and noted that Nepal’s participation marked a milestone as the first invitation since the conference began in 2019.

The main speaker, Hideaki Takada, Secretariat at the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Nepal and Sales & Marketing Director at Fix Corporation, delivered an insightful talk on his nearly 20 years of experience working in Nepal. Drawing from his involvement in major infrastructure projects such as the Sindhuli Road Project, water supply and electricity systems in Jhapa and Kathmandu, as well as private sector initiatives including hospitality development in Pokhara, he shared valuable lessons on long-term development, challenges, and opportunities for strengthening Nepal-Japan business relations.

The event concluded with renewed commitment to strengthening alumni engagement and advancing Nepal-Japan collaboration for the future.

Exciting News! 🌸
To celebrate the Golden Jubilee of JUAAN (Japanese Universities Alumni Association of Nepal)—an organization of Nepali graduates who have returned after completing higher education in Japan—50 Japanese Sakura (cherry blossom) saplings were planted in 2023 along the Bagmati River riverside park in Kupondole, Ward No. 10, Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
We are delighted to share that these Sakura trees have started blooming this year for the first time! 🌸✨
This beautiful sight symbolizes friendship, sustainability, and the strong people-to-people ties between Nepal and Japan.
Let’s celebrate nature, education, and lasting connections together. 🌿🤝
