Important Course Update!

Nepal Public Health Research and Training Center (NPHRTC), a sister institution of the Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF), recently conducted the first cohort of our 3-Day Compact Course on “Advances in Epidemiological Research Methods.”

We would like to share that the 2nd cohort, originally scheduled for 23–25 August 2026, has been rescheduled to 6–8 September 2026. The second cohort is now fully booked!

If you missed the second cohort, we are pleased to announce that the third cohort will be held from 4–6 October 2026.

If you are interested in strengthening your understanding and practical skills in epidemiological research methods, study designs, statistical reasoning, scientific writing, and research proposal development, we encourage you to apply for the October cohort.

The third and final day of the NPHRTC Compact Course on “Advances in Epidemiologic Research Methods” brought the course to a meaningful close with sessions focused on Proposal Writing for International Funding, Critical Reading and Scientific Writing, and Review, Q&A and Course Feedback.

Participants had the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of developing research proposals, framing research for global health priorities, critically engaging with scientific literature, and communicating research through effective scientific writing.

The sessions were led by Dr. Arjune Sen, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Maskey, and Dr. Buddha Basnyat, bringing together expertise in global health, epidemiology, research, and scientific writing.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all the facilitators and participants for making the course a valuable and enriching learning experience.

The second day of the NPHRTC Compact Course on “Advances in Epidemiologic Research Methods” was successfully conducted on 17 August 2026, continuing a focused learning experience on important aspects of epidemiologic research.

Day 2 featured sessions on Bias, Confounding & Effect Modification, facilitated by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Maskey; Qualitative Research & Mixed-Method Study Design, facilitated by Dr. Sharad Raj Onta; and Policy Translation of Research Evidence, facilitated by Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh.

The sessions provided participants with practical insights into identifying and addressing methodological challenges, integrating qualitative and mixed-method approaches, and translating research evidence into meaningful policy and practice.

The first day of the NPHRTC Compact Course on “Advances in Epidemiologic Research Methods” was successfully conducted on 16 August 2026, bringing together participants for an engaging day of learning and discussion on the foundations of epidemiologic research.

Day 1 covered key areas including Research Methods and Problem Identification, Epidemiologic Research Design, Ethical Standards and Research Regulation, Hypothesis Testing and Statistical Foundations, and Evidence Synthesis.

The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Sharad Raj Onta, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Maskey, Dr. Arati Shah, Ms. Namita Ghimire, Dr. Meghnath Dhimal, Dr. Rajendra Kumar B.C. and Ms. Prapti Sharma, bringing together diverse expertise in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, research ethics, and evidence synthesis.
