Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas Holds 23rd Installation Ceremony for Rotary Year 2026-27
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas celebrated a significant milestone with its 23rd Installation Ceremony for the Rotary Year 2026-27 at Dusit Princess Kathmandu, Lazimpat. The event marked a seamless transition of leadership while celebrating the club's enduring commitment to service and fellowship.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Past District Governor (PDG) Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan of Rotary International District 3292 (Nepal-Bhutan). He was accompanied by her spouse madam Sarojini Sherchan and other distinguished guests, including Assistant Governor (AG) Rtn. Gyanendra Bahadur Bhari and Immediate Past Assistant Governor (IPAG) Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Immediate Past President (IPP) Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri, who set a cordial and enthusiastic tone for the evening. He also introduced the incoming President, Rtn. Capt. Mohan Kumar Gurung.
The formal installation ceremony began with PDG Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan ceremonially presenting the traditional Rotary collar and the club charter certificate to the incoming President. This was followed by IPP Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri handing over the gavel and gong, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership to President Rtn. Capt. Mohan Kumar Gurung. PDG Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan then administered the oath of office, officially installing President Gurung for the Rotary Year 2026-27.
Following his installation, President Gurung introduced his Board of Directors and Standing Committee Chairs for the new Rotary year. Each member took the oath of office, reaffirming their commitment to Rotary's ideals of service above self.

In her remarks, IPAG Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all club members for their unwavering support during her tenure as Assistant Governor. She also extended her best wishes to the newly installed leadership team for a successful Rotary Year 2026-27.
Assistant Governor Rtn. Gyanendra Bahadur Bhari congratulated the Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas on its 23rd Installation Ceremony and encouraged the newly elected leadership to work together in making the Rotary Year 2026-27 meaningful and impactful.
The introduction of the Chief Guest, PDG Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan, was presented through a video presentation. In his keynote address, PDG Sherchan thanked the club for its warm hospitality and congratulated the newly installed leadership team. He highlighted Rotary's core values and outlined the priority areas identified by District Governor Rtn. Vishnu Bahadur Karkee for the Rotary Year 2026-27. He also expressed confidence that the club would continue to make meaningful contributions through impactful service projects and strengthened collaboration within the district.
As a token of appreciation, President Rtn. Capt. Mohan Kumar Gurung presented mementoes to Chief Guest PDG Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan and IPAG Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa in recognition of their valuable presence and continued support.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Past President Rtn. Satta Bahadur Gurung, who acknowledged the guidance and unwavering support received from Rotary International District 3292 and all distinguished guests.
Sgt-at-Arms Rtn. Pareena Shrestha efficiently served as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme while also presenting the attendance and sunshine reports.
The 23rd Installation Ceremony successfully celebrated the club's rich legacy of service, honoured its outgoing leadership, and welcomed a new team dedicated to advancing Rotary's mission of "Service Above Self" throughout the Rotary Year 2026-27.
