RHEST is a women-led nonprofit organization established in 1993 with the goal of preventing girl trafficking through education. In addition to support for formal education, RHEST also runs program on health for supported girls, their families and communities. Under the health program, RHEST works in the area of reproductive health, mental health and nutrition. RHEST works closely with four local p

artner organizations in Kailali, Banke, Makwanpur and Udayapur districts. It is our conviction that the advancement of education among girls and women can significantly contribute to the improvement of society as a whole. We envision a society free from trafficking of young girls and gender-based violence. To this end, our organization actively works to support the education of girls and provide information on reproductive health, nutrition and mental health. OUR VISION
We envision an educated Nepali society free of girl trafficking, child marriage, and violence against girls and women, one where access to reproductive health is freely available. OUR MISSION
Our mission is to reduce social malpractices such as girl trafficking, child marriage, forced labor, domestic violence, and sexual abuse through education, and empower and promote the overall health of Nepali girls and young women. OUR GOAL
Our goal is to provide direct support for education to girls at risk of human trafficking. OUR OBJECTIVES
-To combat girl trafficking, child labor, child marriage and domestic violence by empowering girls through education and awareness on various social malpractices.
-To offer assistance in the health of women with priority to communities who have traditionally lacked access to services.

The RHEST Advocacy Group of Tanahun provided support in planning, coordination, and implementation of the VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) camp conducted in collaboration with the Health Section of Shuklagandaki Municipality and Thaprek Health Post to increase awareness and support early detection and prevention of cervical cancer among women residing in Thaprek, Shuklagandaki municipality, ward-01. The Advocacy group member also worked closely with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) to ensure effective dissemination of information about the camp throughout the community.

A total of 32 women received counseling on cervical cancer and VIA services during the program. Teachers and FCHVs also took the VIA service, which encouraged other community members to access the screening with greater confidence. This program helped boost the Advocacy Group members’ confidence to coordinate and organize health programs with the local government, and to promote health awareness at the community level.

RHEST Advocacy Group, in collaboration with local schools, Friday Teachers, and Raksirang Rural Municipality, Makwanpur organized an Awareness Mela on 26th Magh 2082. Five schools participated, each showcasing visual and oral presentations on key topics such as menstruation, child marriage, human trafficking, healthy food habits, and child labour.

Two students from each school presented these topics from individual stalls set up on the school premises. A monitoring team from the Municipality’s Education Section, along with the Chief Administrative Officer, evaluated the stalls. Following the evaluation, winners were awarded gift hampers, and all participating schools received tokens of appreciation. Additionally, the Advocacy Group members set up a separate stall where participants were asked questions related to the presented issues to further assess students’ understanding. This was conducted through a fun ring‑throw activity. Students demonstrated strong knowledge of the topics they presented. The event helped strengthen students’ presentation skills and boost their confidence. The program also supported the Advocacy Group’s ongoing efforts to conduct programs in coordination with the local government and schools.

🌐 डिजिटल सुरक्षा सम्बन्धी सचेतना कार्यक्रम सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न!

२०८२।१०।१३ गते मकवानपुर, हेटौंडा उपमहानगरपालिका–११ स्थित होटल स्मारक मा ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य शिक्षा र सेवा गुठी (RHEST) द्वारा आयोजित सहजकर्ता कार्यशालाको हिस्सा स्वरूप तनहुँ र मकवानपुर जिल्लाका १८ महिला सहजकर्ताहरू सहभागी भएका थिए।

सहभागीहरूलाई जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय मकवानपुरकी प्र.ना.नि. रिमा कोईराला द्वारा अन्तरक्रियात्मक तरिकाले “डिजिटल सुरक्षा” सम्बन्धी प्रशिक्षण प्रदान गरियो ।

A mental health awareness program was conducted at Kushmawati Secondary School,Tanahun on 2082/09/29 following the concern raised by ALUM member Ms. Sita Dhakal, who has successfully completed all three phases of RHEST’s mental health training. As a school teacher, she identified a growing need for mental health awareness among adolescents in her school. The session was facilitated by child psychology expert Trilochan Lamsal, who spoke about common mental health challenges faced by adolescents, the reasons behind them, and practical ways to cope. He also highlighted available support systems and referral options, helping students understand where and how to seek help when needed.

Friday Facilitators Workshop

RHEST organized a four-and-a-half-day Friday Facilitators’ Workshop in Kailali from January 6–10, 2026. The program brought together facilitators from Kailali, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, Banke, and Bardiya districts. The Advocacy Group of Tanahun District successfully conducted a child marriage awareness drama in the Nursery community of Shuklagandaki Municipality, Tanahun, an area identified as having a higher risk of child marriage. The drama was performed by RHEST-supported students of Shree Shramik basic school on 2082/09/11. Following the performance, a small rally was organized as an extension of the drama to further spread the message within the community. The drama concept was developed by members of the Advocacy Group themselves, strengthening their capacity to lead similar awareness programs in the future. The program was attended by the Ward Chairperson, SMC representatives, and area police officers, showing strong collaboration among local stakeholders. The program was also covered by a local news channel of Tanahun.

We successfully completed the first episode of our radio program today, conducted by the Advocacy Group of Tanahun District in alignment with the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Girls.

This episode featured insightful discussions with an Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Belchautara and Mental Health Counsellor (psychological counsellor) of Myagde Rural Municipality, who shared valuable perspectives on child marriage prevention and gender-based violence and digital violence and their Impact on Mental Health.
