The RHEST Advocacy Group of Tanahun provided support in planning, coordination, and implementation of the VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) camp conducted in collaboration with the Health Section of Shuklagandaki Municipality and Thaprek Health Post to increase awareness and support early detection and prevention of cervical cancer among women residing in Thaprek, Shuklagandaki municipality, ward-01. The Advocacy group member also worked closely with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) to ensure effective dissemination of information about the camp throughout the community.
A total of 32 women received counseling on cervical cancer and VIA services during the program. Teachers and FCHVs also took the VIA service, which encouraged other community members to access the screening with greater confidence. This program helped boost the Advocacy Group members’ confidence to coordinate and organize health programs with the local government, and to promote health awareness at the community level.
