Three Nepalese youth representatives who recently participated in WEMUN EXPO 2026 in Beijing visited the China Cultural Center in Nepal on August 14. As the first Nepalese delegation in the event’s 19-year history, they actively contributed as speakers and conference chairs while sharing Nepalese culture through traditional performances. Their journey also included exploring Beijing’s historical landmarks and experiencing contemporary Chinese culture and development.

During the visit, they shared their reflections and expressed their hope to inspire more Nepalese youth to discover China and participate in Nepal-China exchanges. The China Cultural Center will continue supporting youth-led cultural and people-to-people connections.

On August 12, a special lecture titled “Harmony, Mutual Learning and Connectivity: The Dialectical Wisdom of the I Ching for China–Nepal Cross-Cultural Communication” was successfully held at the Conference Hall of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University.

The event was organized by the China Cultural Center in Nepal, hosted by the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, and co-organized by the Confucius Institute at Tribhuvan University. More than 30 Chinese and Nepali teachers and representatives of Chinese-language students from the three institutions attended the lecture.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Qiu Guangmin, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University. Drawing on the core ideas of the I Ching, Mr. Qiu explained, in an accessible and engaging way, the traditional Chinese wisdom of yin-yang dialectics, adaptability and development, and harmony and coexistence. He further connected these philosophical concepts with cultural differences and practical experiences in China–Nepal exchanges, highlighting their contemporary relevance to cross-cultural communication, international Chinese-language education, and mutual learning among civilizations.

Held on a university campus and centered on the wisdom of Chinese classics, the lecture broadened the cultural perspectives of teachers and students, deepened local teachers’ understanding of Chinese culture, and enhanced their appreciation of China–Nepal cross-cultural communication.

The China Cultural Center in Nepal will continue to draw on the rich resources of traditional Chinese culture, strengthen cooperation with its partners, and build more platforms for cultural exchange between China and Nepal. Through mutual learning and mutual understanding, we look forward to bringing new vitality to cultural exchanges and Chinese-language education between the two countries.

On August 10, the lecture of the Chinese Culture Lecture Series, titled “China’s Path of Development,” was successfully held at Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute in Kathmandu. The event was jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Nepal, the Aniko Society, and Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute. Dr. Sarbotam Shrestha, a renowned Nepalese scholar of China and Vice President of the Arniko Society, was invited as the keynote speaker. Nearly 100 scholars, teachers, and students attended the program.

Beginning with the O***m War, Dr. Shrestha traced the major milestones of modern and contemporary Chinese history, including the late Qing Dynasty, the O***m War, the Taiping Rebellion, the Sino-Japanese War of 1894–1895, the Republic of China, the May Fourth Movement, the founding of the Communist Party of China, the establishment of the People’s Liberation Army, the Long March, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Through these historical milestones, Dr. Shrestha explained China’s journey from national decline and foreign humiliation through decades of exploration and sacrifice to the establishment of New China and national independence under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

The 80-minute lecture provided students with a comprehensive perspective for understanding China’s modern history. Students listened attentively and took detailed notes throughout the session.

During the interactive session, students enthusiastically raised questions about modern Chinese history, social transformation, and China’s development, engaging in lively discussions with Dr. Shrestha.

Over the next three consecutive Mondays, the lecture series will continue at the institute, focusing on China’s Reform and Opening-Up and Economic Development, Education and Culture, and Literature and China’s Development and Prospects.
