For Day 30, We have Fapar(Buckwheat).

Kodo, or Fagopyrum tartaricum, commonly known as Bitter bukwheat is an important hardy crop grown in the high altitude mountains and hilly region of Nepal. It is a short season crop does well in low fertility or acidic soil. Buckwheat is known to have higher protein content compared to other cereal crops.

Similar to millet, it also used for making alcohol. It also contains high rutin content that strengthens the blood vessels and improves blood circulation. Hence, it improves cardiovascular health as well.

We, IAAS Nepal LC HICAST, have successfully initated our first project for our tenure which included the Agriculture students from the 23rd Batch (7th Semester) and 26th Batch (1st Semester). In collaboration with IAAS Nepal LC HICAST and SciBRiC, HICAST, we present to you our "Mushroom–Vermicompost Innovation Lab".

The main objective of this project is to produce vermicompost using the locally available wastes and the SMS (Spent Mushroom Substrate) generated in out lab. This project aims to produce vermicompost for sustainable soil health and organic agriculture.

For Day 29, We have Kodo(Millet).

Kodo, or Elusine coracana, commonly known as Finger millet is an important hardy crop grown in the hilly region of Nepal. Finger millet has nutritional value especially for calcium, iron, methionine and manganese. It is a safer food for diabetic patients.

It is the livelihood of hill farmers of Nepal. Nepalese hill farmers use it as their main diet, for making Jand (local fermented and non-distilled alcoholic drink), Rakshi and Tumba (local fermented and distilled alcoholic drink), and sometimes for animal feed.

For Day 25, We have Bhatmas (Soyabean).

Bhatmas scientifically known as (Glycine max) and commonly known as Soyabean is one of the most important leguminous crops cultivated worldwide due to its high nutritional and economic value. Soybean seeds are rich in protein (about 40%) and oil (around 20%), making them a vital source of plant-based protein for human diets and animal feed. It also plays a significant role in improving soil fertility through biological nitrogen fixation, as it forms a symbiotic relationship with Rhizobium bacteria.

Additionally, soybean is widely used in producing various food products like tofu, soy milk, and edible oil, as well as industrial products such as biodiesel. Its cultivation contributes to sustainable agriculture and supports farmers economically.

Methi scientifically known as ( Trigonella foenum graecum) and commonly known as Fenugreek is an important herb in agriculture, nutrition, and traditional medicine. Methi is widely valued for its nutritional content, as its leaves and seeds are rich in proteins, vitamins, iron, and fiber.
