A lot of you have asked what we plan to do next.

When we visited Betrawati, we saw first-hand that the impact of this disaster will extend far beyond the immediate emergency. We are therefore looking at ways to support affected communities in the months ahead, working with the right professionals and responding to needs as they become clearer.

We are currently working on the simplest, most transparent and legally compliant way for people to contribute towards this work. If you would like to support the recovery, your contribution can help us continue this work in the communities affected.

Yesterday, on 3rd September 2026, the Himalayan Quests Foundation held its annual Board Meeting; a time to reflect on the work we’ve done, the communities we serve, and how we can do better.

During the meeting, we reviewed the progress made over the last fiscal year and discussed potential projects and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

With Nepal’s recent floods, much of our discussion focused on what more we can do for affected communities now, as well as how we can continue supporting them in the months and years ahead. The team also shared updates from the ground and discussed ongoing relief efforts.

We also took a moment to look at another project that has been steadily taking shape: the Simpani Health Post in Lamjung.

A year ago, we shared our plans to build a new health post in Simpani, an important step towards bringing essential healthcare closer to the people of the area.

A year on, the project has faced its share of challenges, including rising costs, the impacts of the war in the Middle East, the Gen Z protests and monsoon-related delays. Through it all, we’ve continued coordinating with local leaders and communities and the health post is now taking physical shape.

There is still a long way to go, and a project of this scale takes time. But seeing the building rise from an idea into something tangible is incredibly encouraging.

When completed, the health post will mean more accessible and reliable healthcare for people in the surrounding communities, bringing essential services closer to home.

According to the latest figures reported by Nepal Police, as of 2 September 2026, 1,127 bodies have been recovered and 4,858 people remain missing following the disaster. Authorities have reported that more than 11,800 people had been brought to safety, while search, rescue and recovery operations continue across the affected areas.

Following our eye camp in Sirkot, Syangja, nine patients recently underwent successful cataract surgery at Himalayan Eye Hospital Pokhara.

A simple procedure can have a life-changing impact: restoring vision, independence and confidence.
