SAPPROS-NEPAL, together with UN-WFP has been jointly implementing the JP-RWEE II project to support rural women farmers in Siraha and Saptari in developing market-oriented vegetable value chains.
From nursery management and healthy seedling production to soil health, IPM, transplantation and marketing, women farmers are gaining practical skills to produce quality vegetables. This is contributing to improved food and nutrition security and increased household income.
Lead farmers are also emerging as local extension agents, demonstrating good practices and sharing knowledge within their communities. From one nursery to many farms, the project is strengthening local vegetable production, food security and women’s livelihoods across Madhesh Province.

On 14-15 July 2026, SAPPROS-NEPAL conducted a Half-Yearly Review Meeting and Gender Impact Assessment (GIA) Training under the JP- RWEE project implemented in partnership with UN-WFP and IFAD.
The event reviewed project progress, shared field experiences, strengthened knowledge on gender-responsive and sustainable livelihoods and also identified key actions to further enhance the economic empowerment of rural women.

On 1 July 2026, under our SAMANTA Project, Chautara Sangachowkgadhi Municipality recognized the outstanding achievements of 15 entrepreneurs with disabilities for their dedication, resilience, and success in establishing sustainable livelihoods. During a special felicitation ceremony, each entrepreneur received a certificate of appreciation and a cash award of NPR 10,000 in recognition of their entrepreneurial accomplishments and contribution to inclusive economic development.

The event highlighted the municipality’s commitment to promoting the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities while encouraging the award recipients to further strengthen their enterprises and inspiring others to pursue entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

On 29–30 March 2026, SAPPROS Nepal’s program team, including Board Chairperson Mr. Shyam Bahadur Khadka and other board members, conducted a field monitoring visit to the SAMANATA Program in Sindhupalchok. The visit included meaningful interactions with project participants and local government representatives, strengthening shared understanding and collaboration. The team also shared key highlights of the program, including its goals, performance indicators, achievements, challenges and best practices from the field.

A special highlight of the visit was the support provided to four persons with disabilities (wheelchair users), who received four-wheeler scooters to enhance their mobility, access to higher education, employment opportunities and overall livelihoods. This support was made possible through the generous contributions of individual donors through SAPPROS Nepal’s informal networks.
