Following the completion of the phased implementation of the Sathi Teachers Programme (September 2025) and the HELP Scholarship and Leadership Development Programme (March 2025), the Social Welfare Council (SWC) conducted field-level monitoring and evaluation across our partner schools and local governments.

The field visits were led by the designated monitoring team of Mr. Tikaram Aryal (Team Leader) and Mr. Khaganath Regmi (Team Member). The visits began in Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, where the team engaged with Shree Kalika Secondary School and later held discussions at the Tripurasundari Rural Municipality Office. The next visit took place in Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, covering Shree Golmeshwari Basic School (Ward 6) and Shree Satkanyadevi Basic School (Ward 3), along with a Local Government Consultation and Partnership Review meeting at the rural municipality office. The final set of visits was conducted in Abu Khaireni Rural Municipality on March 30, 2026 (Chaitra 16, 2082 BS), where the team visited Shree Suryodaya Basic School (Ward 2) and Shree Chimkeshwori Secondary School (Ward 4), followed by a review at the municipal office.

During the visits, stakeholders shared their reflections on the programme, particularly in relation to classroom engagement, teacher support, and coordination between schools and local governments. The monitoring teams also observed ongoing collaboration between schools, teachers, and municipalities in implementing programme activities.

We are grateful to the SWC monitoring team for their time and evaluation, and to all participating schools and local government offices for their continued engagement and feedback throughout the process. The observations and feedback will help us further strengthen and refine our programmes moving forward.

School in a Bag reaches 213 students in Sankhuwasabha and Sindhupalchowk

We at HELP are pleased to share that 213 students received school bags filled with vital educational materials last month. The schools supported include Shree Gaganchumbi Basic School, Chainpur and Shree Jambawati Basic School, Sibhuwa in Sankhuwasabha district, as well as 82 children at Shree Satkanya Basic School in Bhotang, Sindhupalchowk.

We extend our gratitude to Gehanatan Gautam, Chief Administrative Officer at the National Youth Council, for highlighting the needs of these communities in Sankhuwasabha. Ansd, special thanks also go to our Saathi teachers, Bijay Baidakothi and Umesh Adhikary, for facilitating the distributions and ensuring the bags reach the children at Bhotang.

While we had planned to reach several more schools this year, the election period in Nepal and end of the academic year temporarily delayed further distributions. We are excited to resume visits to schools in Nuwakot, Sarlahi, Ilam, and Gorkha as soon as the new academic year begins.

This initiative is part of HELP’s ongoing partnership with School in a Bag who provide the resources in delivering these essential resources directly to students. Since the programme’s inception, 25,494 students across Nepal have benefited from School in a Bag. These school bags provide children with the basic resources and tools they need to learn effectively.

As HELP prepares to open applications for the Post-SEE Scholarship and Mentorship Programme for the 2083 cycle, we recently conducted an online information session across 9 secondary level public schools in Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, where we have been working in partnership for over a decade.

The session brought together head teachers and administrative staff, focusing on clarifying the application process, addressing common misunderstandings, and exploring how schools can better support students throughout the journey. The goal is simple: ensure that no deserving and needy student is left behind due to avoidable gaps in information or guidance.

In the coming days, we will be working actively to disseminate this opportunity through multiple channels, so that every eligible student has the chance to apply.

24/03/2026

As students across Nepal prepare for SEE, we at HELP are getting ready to launch applications for the HELP SEE Scholarship and Mentorship Programme for the 2083 cycle.

Applications will open soon after the SEE exams end.
Stay tuned for updates!

Thursday, 19 March 2026, our scholarship students, currently in Grade 11 pursuing the management stream, attended a financial literacy session conducted by Kumari Bank. The session covered key topics such as savings, banking transactions, investments, and the importance of developing financial awareness from a young age.
It was especially valuable as many students are leading lives away from their families and building smart financial habits at this stage will play a crucial role in shaping their future.

The session also sparked strong interest in careers in the banking sector. Students raised queries about career pathways and how to pursue them, all of which were clearly addressed by the representatives.

We are sincerely grateful to Kumari Bank Limited for providing our students with this practical exposure.

We are pleased to strengthen our decade-long partnership with Paanchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality (PTRM), continuing to support schools across PTRM through initiatives that advance our shared commitment to improving education in the region.

In partnership with the Municipality, three schools have been selected for the Greenhouse Programme:

Shree Thangpaldhap Secondary School

Shree Chandika Secondary School

Shree Satkanyamati Secondary School

This livelihood initiative will provide practical greenhouse knowledge to students while contributing to schools’ mid-day meal programmes.

Furthermore, recognizing that a large proportion of scholarship applicants to our Post-SEE Scholarship and Mentorship Programme come from PTRM, we are also extending support through an SEE Preparation Support Grant to help schools better prepare students for their SEE examinations. Eight schools have been selected for this support:

Shree Bhim Vidyashram Secondary School

Shree Chandika Secondary School

Shree Bhotang Devi Secondary School

Shree Thangpal Valley Secondary School

Shree Satkanyamati Secondary School

Shree Thangpaldhap Secondary School

Shree Bhotenamlang Secondary School and

Shree Langarche Secondary School

Through these eight schools, the initiative reaches more than three-quarters of PTRM’s SEE candidates.

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤: 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲

Himal Tamang, originally from Bhotenamlang, was first introduced to HELP in 2016, when he was studying in Grade 6. That year, the devastating earthquake had destroyed his school, and like many students, Himal was struggling with limited resources. At the time, HELP supported him with something seemingly small but deeply meaningful-his very first school bag.
Before that, Himal recalls walking to school each day carrying a borrowed bag from his elder sister. Receiving his own school bag made him feel personally recognised and valued. More importantly, it inspired him to continue his education with renewed confidence, knowing that there were people willing to invest in his future.

After completing his schooling in Bhotenamlang, Himal moved to Kathmandu to pursue a Diploma in Computer Engineering. He later applied for and was awarded a HELP Scholarship. As he also received support from other sources, Himal used part of HELP’s scholarship to purchase a bicycle for NPR 6,000, which he relied on to travel nearly 12 kilometres every day to attend college, showing his determination and practical approach to learning.
Today, Himal is a third-year Bachelor’s student in Information Technology at King’s College, where he is studying under a merit-based scholarship. Alongside his studies, he works part-time as a Software Developer at Triad International Pvt. Ltd., a growing IT startup in Nepal. Looking ahead, Himal aspires to pursue an MBA or a related qualification in the future and contribute to helping Nepali businesses grow and compete in the digital world.

The newly launched version of the HELP website which was released on 1 January 2026 is credited to Himal’s talent who designed and developed in close collaboration with the HELP team. When we approached him to take on this work, his response was simple and heartfelt: “It would be an honour to give back in this way.” And he truly delivered a first-class result.
HELP feels privileged to have met a dedicated and talented student like Himal and to have played a small role in his educational journey. We are immensely proud of his achievements and grateful for his contribution. His story reflects the long-term impact of believing in young people and investing in their potential.

Thank you, Himal.
