The Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) is organizing an online orientation session on the “Ma Udhyami” Trademark, an initiative designed to help strengthen the identity and visibility of women-led enterprises.

The orientation will provide women entrepreneurs with information about the “Ma Udhyami” Trademark, its purpose, significance, and how it will support the recognition of women entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Nothing stops the FWEAN team from reaching the most remote mountain communities to create opportunities for women and youth.

A three-day Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Training for Women and Youth was successfully completed in Khatyad Rural Municipality, Mugu, from 25–27 September 2026, under the EMPOWER Project.

Reaching Khatyad itself was a journey of determination, our team, including FWEAN Project Coordinator Bhupendra Batsa Lamsal, MEAL Officer Sabina Sharma, and Enterprise Development Officer Mahesh Jaishi, travelled through challenging mountain terrain,uphill and downhill to accomplish the training.

The training focused on strengthening entrepreneurial knowledge and skills among women and youth, including members of the Dalit community, while promoting self-employment, local enterprise development, and sustainable livelihoods.

Through practical learning and capacity building, the initiative seeks to enable rural women and youth to turn ideas into enterprises, skills into income, and opportunities into sustainable livelihoods contributing to stronger and more resilient local economies.

The training was implemented by FWEAN, LI-BIRD, and KCDC in consortium, with support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and BMZ/GIZ, under the EMPOWER initiative.

From difficult trails to new possibilities, FWEAN continues to go where opportunities are needed most.

With the support of CARE Nepal and its partner organizations Utopia, WOREC, and the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), FWEAN Lumbini Province successfully organized a one-day marketplace event in Butwal.

This marks the first province-level marketplace initiative of FWEAN, creating a platform for local and youth entrepreneurs and businesses to showcase and promote their products while developing opportunities for networking, visibility, and market access.

The Women Entrepreneur Marketplace Event, held on 21 September 2026, brought together women entrepreneurs, buyers, financial institutions, local government representatives, civil society, and development partners to strengthen connections between women-led businesses and wider market opportunities.

The event featured 30 women-led micro and small enterprises, more than 35 institutional buyers and financial representatives, and over 185 stakeholders, civil society members, and visitors. With 52 product showcase stalls, participants presented locally produced agro-processing products, handicrafts, traditional foods, handloom textiles, cleaning products, and other women-led enterprises.

Key highlights of the event included:
• Product showcases connecting women entrepreneurs with potential customers and buyers
• B2B interactions and financial matchmaking with businesses, hospitality-sector representatives, wholesalers, and financial institutions
• Panel discussions on market access, collateral requirements, financial literacy, unpaid care work, and the role of local governments
• Introduction of the “Ma Udhyami” trademark to women producers in Lumbini Province
• Graduation of young women entrepreneurs from the Didi Bahini Incubation Program

The event also provided an important space for women entrepreneurs to engage with local government representatives on enterprise registration, local support mechanisms, tax-related provisions, and opportunities for entrepreneurship development.

Representing the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) at the event were President Ms. Darshana Shrestha , First Vice President Ms. Sunita Vaidya Shrestha , General Secretary Ms. Sabita Subedi Executive Director Ms. Joshi, and Senior Office Assistant Ms. Shrestha.

By bringing together entrepreneurs, businesses, markets, financial institutions, and public stakeholders, the marketplace marked an important step in strengthening province-level platforms for women entrepreneurs to gain visibility, connect with markets, explore financial opportunities, and grow their businesses.

A three-day "Enterprise and Entrepreneurship training to Women and Youths (21-23 September) completes successfully in Budhinanda Municipality, Bajura district under the EMPOWER Project. The initiative aims to enhance entrepreneurial skills among women and youth, including members of the Dalit community, developing self-employment opportunities and strengthening local economic development.

Implemented by FWEAN, LI-BIRD, and KCDC in consortium, with support from BMZ and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), the training focuses on building the capacity of rural women to become successful entrepreneurs and achieve long-term economic empowerment.

The program was represented by Mr. Bhupendra Batsa Lamsal, Project Coordinator, Ms. Sabina MEAL Officer; and and Mr. Mahesh Jaishi, Enterprise Development Officer, from FWEAN, contributing to this fruitful engagement.

Together, we are creating pathways for women and youth-led enterprises, stronger livelihoods, and resilient rural communities.

A tribute to our late Treasurer, Ms. Sumitra, was held yesterday at the FWEAN Secretariat, where members of the Board and staff came together to remember her life, contributions, and dedicated service to the organization.

Her husband, Mr. Rajesh Palanchoke, also attended the tribute event and joined us in honoring her memory.

We fondly remember Ms. Sumitra for her valuable contributions to FWEAN and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family. Her legacy and contributions to the organization will always be remembered.

Warm wishes to everyone celebrating Indra Jatra!

Indra Jatra is one of the most significant festivals of the Kathmandu Valley, celebrated in honor of Lord Indra, the god of rain, in gratitude for the rains that nourish our land and sustain our harvests. It also marks the chariot procession of the living goddess Kumari, bringing together masked dances, traditional music, and centuries-old rituals that reflect the rich Newari heritage of the valley.

Beyond its religious significance, the festival is a celebration of unity, culture, and community spirit, reminding us of the deep bond between nature, tradition, and togetherness.

On this auspicious occasion, FWEAN extends heartfelt greetings to everyone. May this festival bring joy, prosperity, unity, and continued strength to our communities and the spirit of working together that we hold close.

In times of crisis, true humanity is reflected not only in words but also in the willingness to stand beside those who need us most.
As part of its humanitarian response, FWEAN, in collaboration with the American Himalayan Foundation (AHF), distributed gas cylinders, gas stoves, lentils, and other protein-rich food products to 50 flood-affected families in Kalikasthan, Rasuwa.

This relief initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Ms. Gyani Tamang, President of our Rasuwa District Chapter, who worked closely with the local government to identify the families most affected by the floods. She personally traveled through the affected areas day and night to ensure that relief materials reached the 150 affected victims who needed them most.

The journey itself was not easy. The FWEAN team traveled for nearly 13 hours to reach Kalikasthan, Rasuwa, facing the challenges of a difficult and demanding journey. Yet, the moment we arrived in the affected communities and witnessed the hardships faced by the families, the long journey felt insignificant. Their struggles, resilience, and grateful smiles reminded us why we had come.
At a time when cooking gas was in short supply and daily meal preparation had become a major challenge for many families, the gas cylinders and stoves provided much-needed relief. Seeing smiles on the faces of affected families amidst their grief and hardship reminded us once again that even a small act of support can bring hope, comfort, and dignity to those facing difficult times.

The relief materials were distributed by FWEAN President Ms. Darshana Shrestha , 3rd Vice President Ms. Mahalaxmi Shrestha , Secretary Ms. Dikila Lama , Executive Member Ms. Anuza Rajbhandari , and FWEAN staff members Mr. Manoj Timilsina and Mr. Niraj Khadka.
FWEAN remains deeply committed to standing with communities during times of hardship. This initiative reflects the strength of our network, from the national organization to our district chapters, and our shared belief that when we come together, we can bring hope where it is needed most.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to the FWEAN Rasuwa Chapter, Ms. Gyani Tamang, AHF, local government representatives, WEAN Cooperative, our FWEAN leadership and staff, and everyone who contributed to making this humanitarian effort possible.

Because humanitarian work is not measured by the distance we travel or the difficulties we face, but by the lives we touch and the hope we leave behind.

FWEAN and World Central Kitchen Join Hands to Support Flood-Affected Communities in Nuwakot

In the midst of a difficult time for communities affected by the floods, FWEAN, in collaboration with World Central Kitchen (WCK), has stepped forward with a meaningful initiative to provide both immediate humanitarian support and sustainable economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

A community kitchen has been established at Star Boarding Holding Center, Bidur-3, Nuwakot, providing nutritious and hygienic meals to 200 flood-affected people. The beneficiaries are receiving four healthy and nutritious meals each day, helping families meet one of their most basic needs during this challenging period.

What makes this initiative particularly meaningful is that it goes beyond emergency food relief. The community kitchen is being operated by women entrepreneurs of Nuwakot who have been trained by WCK in community kitchen management and hygienic food preparation. Through this initiative, FWEAN is creating an opportunity for these women to use their skills, earn an income, and contribute directly to the recovery of their own communities.

This approach reflects FWEAN’s commitment to ensuring that women are not only recipients of support during crises, but also active contributors, entrepreneurs, and leaders in community recovery and resilience. By connecting humanitarian assistance with women’s entrepreneurship and livelihood development, the initiative creates a pathway from immediate relief toward longer-term empowerment.

The initiative was identified through a need assessment conducted by the FWEAN Nuwakot District Chapter, ensuring that the response is grounded in the real needs of the affected community. The Nuwakot Chapter is taking the responsibility forward under the leadership of Chapter President Ms. Gita Amatya, demonstrating the strength of FWEAN’s grassroots network and its ability to respond quickly when communities need support most.

The initiative was supported by FWEAN, with President Ms. Darshana Shrestha, 3rd Vice President Ms. Mahalaxmi Shrestha, and Secretary Ms. Dikila Lama contributed to smooth communication, coordination, and support throughout the initiative, strengthening collaboration between FWEAN, WCK, and the local community

FWEAN also envisions taking this model forward and replicating the community kitchen initiative in other areas, creating more opportunities for women entrepreneurs while promoting safe, nutritious, and hygienic food services in times of crisis.

At a time when communities are facing uncertainty and hardship, FWEAN is demonstrating that women’s entrepreneurship can be a powerful force for humanitarian response, recovery, and resilience. By bringing together women entrepreneurs, local leadership, and humanitarian partners, FWEAN is helping nourish families today while building stronger economic opportunities for women tomorrow.
