Dhundup is finally pain-free!

A few months ago, we rescued Dhundup from Jorpati. An old community dog who had spent most of his life near a monastery, he was lovingly cared for by the people there. When his condition became too painful to manage, the community reached out to us for help.

For years, a tumour had been growing on Dhundup’s backside. In recent months, it had burst open, leaving him at constant risk of infection and discomfort. We rushed him directly to AMC, where after careful examination, the vets determined that surgery was his only option.

Given Dhundup’s age, we were deeply worried about how he would handle anaesthesia and recovery. But this old boy proved stronger than anyone expected, and he made it through surgery successfully.

Because the tumour was located in such a sensitive area, recovery was slow and delicate. Dhundup stayed admitted at the hospital for several days so the surgical site could be closely monitored and protected from infection. Once stable, he was brought to our shelter, where his healing journey continued.

Every day, his wound was cleaned carefully. He was kept on a simple diet and given medications to make him comfortable and help his recovery. Slowly but surely, Dhundup healed.

After nearly two months of treatment, patience, and care, Dhundup has made a full recovery and has now been reunited with his feeder and the community that loves him.

Seeing him comfortable again, free from pain after carrying it for so many years, reminds us why every rescue matters.

WE DID IT - and then some! 💚🐾

First of all, we want to apologize for the late update. Shelter life has kept us incredibly busy, and we got completely carried away with rescue work, caring for the dogs, treatments, feeding schedules, and day-to-day shelter responsibilities. But we could not let another day pass without thanking all of you properly. 🙏

Because of your incredible kindness and support, our emergency fundraiser was a huge success. We are beyond grateful to share that we raised enough money not only for a brand new deep freezer, but also for a much-needed washing machine for the shelter.

What started as a desperate situation turned into something truly beautiful because of this amazing community. Your donations, shares, messages, and encouragement reminded us that we are never alone in caring for these dogs.

These new appliances will help us:
❄️ Store food and medicines safely
🧺 Keep blankets and bedding clean
🐶 Provide healthier, better care for our shelter dogs every single day

From the bottom of our hearts - THANK YOU.

Every contribution made a difference, and every act of support helped change lives.

This victory belongs to all of you. 💚

🚨 Urgent Help Needed for Our Shelter Dogs 🐾

Last morning, our deep freezer suddenly broke down, and with summer heat already here, this could not have happened at a worse time.

To be transparent, the freezer was very old, and we knew it needed replacing. We had been trying to raise funds for a new one through our recent hikes, hoping to manage the upgrade in time. Unfortunately, it gave up sooner than we anticipated.

Our freezer is essential for storing dog food safely. Without it, food spoils quickly, putting dozens of dogs at risk of going hungry or getting sick. In this rising heat, having a working freezer isn’t just important - it is absolutely critical!

We now urgently need to raise **NPR 40,000** to replace it.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward ensuring our dogs continue to get safe, nutritious meals during this intense summer.

💛 Please consider donating or sharing this post to help us reach more people.

📩 Message us if you would like to help or contribute.

Thank you for standing with our shelter dogs 🐶

There is something quietly powerful about this moment.

A young boy, gentle and unafraid, reaches out to comfort Dalle, a dog who, despite everything, still chooses to trust.

Dalle is not completely alone. He has a caretaker who has been feeding him, and that small act of kindness has undoubtedly made a huge difference in his life. But unfortunately, it does not change the bigger picture. With a tumour on the inside of his back leg and signs that he may once have been a house pet, it is clear he has not always belonged to the streets. Somehow, somewhere along the way, he ended up here and is now surviving, waiting, adapting.

And yet, here he is allowing touch, allowing trust.

What stands out is not just Dalle’s resilience. It is the instinctive compassion of a child. No hesitation, no judgement, no fear, just kindness. The kind we are all born with, but too often forget.

Sometimes, humanity is not found in grand gestures but in small, quiet moments like this: a soft touch, a willingness to care, a decision to stop and help. Street dogs like Dalle do not choose their suffering. But we can choose how we respond to it.

Dalle has been rescued and is currently receiving necessary treatment at AMC. He still has a long road to recovery. But today, he has more than just food. He has attention, care, and a chance at getting healthier.

Let’s be more like this child.
Let’s choose compassion.

A heartfelt thank you to Aakriti KC and her wonderful family for their incredibly generous donation of NPR 15,000 to support our shelter dogs 🐾❤️

It was such a joy having Aakriti and her friends visit us during the hike with our rescued dogs. Not only did they spend meaningful time with the dogs, but they also stepped in to volunteer, bringing so much warmth and positive energy to the shelter.

Their contribution is making a real difference:
🐶 NPR 5,000 was dedicated to sponsoring nutritious meals for our dogs
🏠 NPR 10,000 will help us build much-needed dog houses, giving our rescues safer and more comfortable shelter

Acts of kindness like this remind us that compassion creates real change. We are deeply grateful for your support.

If Aakriti’s gesture inspires you, we invite you to join in and support our mission to make life better for the dogs. Every contribution, big or small, helps us give these dogs the love and care they deserve. 💛

Starting the year with hope and healing: Gyani is finally home, healthy and safe. ❤️

A month ago, Gyani was rescued from the Sundarijal area in Gokarneshwor after a kind local reached out for help. She had recently given birth and was suffering from continuous bleeding. When she arrived at the clinic, she was diagnosed with TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumour), a highly contagious condition that causes painful mass growth and severe bleeding if left untreated.

TVT is a disease that spreads mainly through mating, especially among intact street dogs. It appears as a tumour, usually around the private parts, and can cause symptoms like bleeding, swelling, discomfort, and weakness. Because many community dogs live without regular medical care, the disease can easily spread from one dog to another. The good news is that TVT is treatable, and with timely veterinary care, most commonly chemotherapy, dogs can make a full recovery. However, without treatment, it can worsen over time, leading to infection, difficulty in movement, and severe health complications.

Despite everything, Gyani remained gentle and strong. Her blood tests came back normal, and treatment began immediately. Gyani responded well to treatment. The bleeding stopped after just two sessions, and by the fourth, she made a full recovery. She was then spayed and vaccinated to ensure a healthier, safer future before being reunited with her caretaker.

Today, Gyani walks forward into a new chapter, one free from pain, protected, and cared for. One life changed, one step closer to a kinder world.

This journey would not have been possible without the generosity and compassion of our donors. Because of you, Gyani received the care she desperately needed.

But the need continues. We have recently rescued two more dogs from the same area suffering from similar conditions. Their treatment has already begun, and they, too, deserve a chance at recovery and a better life.

If you would like to be a part of their journey, please consider donating to help cover their medical expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope, healing, and a second chance.

Do you know you can sponsor a dog at CDW?
It is a beautiful way to be part of a dog’s life, almost like having a pet, but without bringing them into your home. You still share in their journey, their care, and their progress. Sponsorship allows you to form a meaningful connection while helping provide everything they need to live with comfort and dignity.

Sponsorship at our shelter is primarily focused on providing food and daily hands-on care for the dogs. For just US$20 (NPR 3,000), a sponsorship helps ensure a dog is fed every day and receives the consistent attention, interaction, and basic care they need to feel safe and supported. Sponsors also have the option to extend their support to cover additional needs such as medical treatment, physiotherapy, or special requirements, depending on the dog. Every contribution directly improves a dog’s quality of life and helps us continue giving them steady, loving care.

We are so grateful to share that Ojasvi is now sponsored by Harry from Harry's Happy Hounds NZ. Thank you, Harry, for your incredible kindness and generosity. Your support makes such a meaningful difference in her journey.

Ojasvi arrived at our shelter in heartbreaking condition, fully paralysed due to a severe spinal injury. While her chances of recovery remain uncertain, she has found safety, comfort, and compassion here. She is now part of our “Special Dogs Unit". She is currently in Kate's care, where she is comfortable, loved, and never alone.

There are many more dogs like Ojasvi still waiting for sponsorship at our shelter. If you are unable to adopt, please consider sponsoring. Your support gives them care, stability, and a life filled with dignity, and in many ways, it is just like having a pet of your own, sharing in their story and making a real difference every step of the way. Send us a message to make this world a kinder place for the dogs!

A meaningful way to celebrate a birthday 💛

Thank you, Resha Adhikari, for choosing to mark your special day by sponsoring a one-time meal for our shelter dogs. Because of your thoughtful gesture, over 170+ dogs were fed and cared for today.

It’s a simple act, but one that creates real impact.

For those who’ve been thinking of doing something similar ; a one-time meal for 170+ dogs costs NPR 5,000. It’s a practical and direct way to make a difference.

We appreciate you, Resha, for setting such a great example.
