We are delighted to share that on behalf of Y-PEER Asia Pacific Center, Bangkok, Thailand, Disabilities 2030, and Y-PEER Nepal successfully presented our research titled “Reimagining Accessibility for Deaf Youths Through Multimedia Education Across South East and South Asia” at the 7th Global International Conference 2025, held on 4 & 5 December at Global College International, Kathmandu.
Our National Coordinator Mr. Nishant Kumar and Board Member Ms. Sawfalta Maharjan represented our team throughout the two-day conference.
Key Takeaway: Our research shows that deaf youth face major barriers in accessing SRHR information, but youth-led multimedia tools especially sign-language podcasts, subtitles, and visual storytelling significantly improve accessibility. With 48 deaf youths from Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, and Pakistan leading the content creation, the project boosted confidence, engagement, and peer-to-peer learning and making this the first-ever SRHR sign-language podcast initiative across the region and a powerful model for inclusive education.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our mentor Sangeet Kayastha, Coordinator, Y-PEER Asia Pacific Center, Bangkok, Thailand and AwNu Shrestha, Co-Founder, Disabilities 2030 and Board member, Y-PEER Nepal for guiding us at every step from research journey and project completion to the final presentation.
Thank you to Mr. Jiwak Raj Bajracharya, PhD, Conference Coordinator, Global International Conference for his guidance and continuous support. A big thank you to Global College International for organizing such a wonderful and enriching conference.
