Partnership in Action!
We're proud to continue our powerful collaboration between The Himalayan Leaky Foundation and Janamaitri Cooperative in support of our Women
Empowerment Programme.
Together, we're planting the seeds-literally and figuratively-for sustainable agriculture, improved food security, and economic independence for rural women in Nepal.
This partnership is a vital part of our mission to support women-led farming initiatives, build local capacity, and foster long-term resilience through practical, hands-on programmes.
Stay tuned for updates on seed distribution, training, and stories from the field as we continue to grow this movement-one crop, one community, one empowered woman at a time.

HLF Nepal non Profit organization focused on improving rural livelihoods, especially for women in farming communities. In many parts of Nepal, women play a major role in agriculture but often lack access to resources, training, and modern techniques. HLF Nepal works to change this.
1. Formation of Women Farmer Groups
3. Skills Development and Capacity Building
4. Access to Resources and Tools
5. Income Generation and Livelihood Improvement

The HLF was involved in social initiatives in Nepal aimed at addressing serious issues like women trafficking and child trafficking, which have historically affected vulnerable communities due to poverty, lack of education, and cross-border exploitation.

Here’s an elaboration of the kind of work and initiatives HLF has undertaken:

1. Anti-Trafficking Initiatives

HLF played an active role in raising awareness and preventing trafficking by:

* Community vigilance programs: Working with local leaders and volunteers to identify suspicious activities and protect vulnerable women and children.
* Border awareness efforts: Since Nepal shares open borders (especially with India), HLF supported awareness campaigns in border regions to educate people about trafficking risks.
* Collaboration with local groups: Partnering with grassroots NGOs and authorities to monitor trafficking networks and support victims.

“HLF supported a Chepang family in Makwanpur District by providing a safe and durable roof, ensuring better protection and improved living conditions for the children and their family. This support has helped create a more secure home environment, safeguarding them from harsh weather and contributing to their overall well-being

The HLF is actively engaged in promoting women empowerment and sustainable rural development in the villages of Kavre District, Nepal. Recognizing that women in rural areas often face limited access to education, resources, and economic opportunities, HLF has initiated targeted training programs aimed at transforming their livelihoods through modern agricultural practices and skill development

HLF has been playing a meaningful role in supporting vulnerable communities in Nepal, particularly the Chepang families, who are among the poorest and most marginalized ethnic groups in the country. Many Chepang households face chronic food insecurity due to limited access to arable land, remote living conditions, and economic hardship.Through its food assistance initiatives, HLF has been helping to provide essential relief by distributing staple food supplies to these families. This support not only helps reduce hunger but also brings a sense of security and dignity to communities that often struggle to meet their basic needs.

The Himalayan Leaky Foundation iimplemented a community-based drinking water supply project in Timal Rural Municipality,Thamdanda, located in Kavrepalanchok District. This initiative aims to provide sustainable, safe, and reliable drinking water access to underserved households in the region.

Thamdanda is a rural hill settlement where access to clean drinking water has been a persistent challenge due to difficult terrain, seasonal water shortages, and limited infrastructure. The project addresses these issues through the development of a gravity-fed water supply system and community-managed water distribution network.
