A National Consultation on “Strengthening Advocacy on Child Marriage & UPR Recommendations” was successfully conducted in Kathmandu, Bagmati Province by NMWWS, in collaboration with NIWF and ADRF, with the support of Equality Now.
The consultation shed light on the urgent need to address child marriage, highlighting gaps in awareness, reporting, and prosecution; the wide-ranging impacts on education, health, SRHR, and mental well-being; and the importance of multi-sector coordination and a survivor-centered approach.
The program aimed to strengthen advocacy, present key UPR findings, uphold the legal marriage age of 20 years, and finalize recommendations for memorandums to provincial and federal governments.
