🎓💛 Supporting Girl Child Education Since 2008 💛🎓

For over 17 years, the Rotary Club of Baneshwor has been committed to empowering young minds through education at Shree Ananda Bhairav Secondary School, Mulpani. What began in 2008 with just a few girls has grown into a meaningful scholarship program supporting 30 students today.

In the past two years, we have expanded our reach from 25 to 30 students, now supporting 25 girls and 5 boys, ensuring inclusive access to education for children from economically challenged families.

We are especially grateful to the MAW Foundation for joining hands with us this year and supporting this initiative. Their contribution strengthens our shared vision of creating brighter futures through education.

Together, we continue to believe that education is the strongest foundation for change—and every child deserves that opportunity. 🌱

🌿 Bagmati River Cleaning Initiative – Sinamangal

In a joint effort toward environmental sustainability, the Rotary Club of Baneshwor, in coordination with the Lions Club of Baneshwor and Battisputali Yuva Samaj, conducted a Bagmati River cleaning drive near the Sinamangal Bagmati Bridge. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from youth volunteers and local community members, who came together to clean the riverbanks and surrounding areas. With the approaching rainy season and the increased risk of dengue, such regular cleaning efforts are crucial in preventing water stagnation and maintaining public health. This project highlights the importance of collective community action in preserving our environment and safeguarding health.

♻️ Clothing Distribution Initiative – Baneshwor

As part of our ongoing sustainability and community support efforts, the Rotary Club of Baneshwor distributed wearable clothes collected earlier for upcycling to the sukumbasi community of Baneshwor through Koseli Ghar during their Parent-Teacher Meet Day. While the project aims to upcycle unused textiles, we ensured that all clothes in good, wearable condition were first utilized to directly support those in need. This initiative not only promoted responsible reuse but also brought immediate relief and dignity to underserved families, reinforcing our commitment to both environmental responsibility and community care.

Rotary Community Health Outreach – Baneshwor

A free community health camp was successfully organized in the Baneshwor area by the Rotary Club of Baneshwor, in collaboration with the Purano Baneshwor Tol Basi Sanstha and the dedicated medical team from Kathmandu Medical College. The camp served over 680 individuals, primarily targeting underprivileged and sukumbasi communities, ensuring access to essential healthcare services. A wide range of departments were available on-site, including General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Dental, Eye (Ophthalmology), and ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat).

In addition, advanced diagnostic services such as ECG, ultrasound, blood laboratory tests (including Hb, sugar, urea, uric acid), urine tests, and blood grouping were also provided free of cost to those in need at the venue itself. This initiative reaffirmed our commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, especially the most vulnerable sections of society.

Rotary Club of Baneshwor’s Ujjyalo Bato initiative reflects a deep and sustained commitment to advancing adolescent health, education, and wellbeing in underserved school communities. Under the leadership of Rtn. Rupali Sarawgi, the project has actively engaged young minds in critical conversations around sexual and reproductive health, emotional awareness, and personal safety—areas often overlooked within the formal education system. Her dedication extends beyond Rotary, as she also personally sponsors the education of two children, demonstrating a strong individual commitment to nurturing future generations.

The initiative is implemented in collaboration with Pyari Education, founded by Ms. Nikita Paudel and Mr. Priyanshu Pokhrel, and led by a team of passionate young professionals, including young female leaders who are driving meaningful change in child and adolescent mental health and health literacy across Nepal. This partnership brings innovation, empathy, and evidence-based approaches into classrooms, making learning both accessible and impactful.

Ujjyalo Bato is a holistic and evolving project, going beyond awareness to create real support systems for students. Building on the needs identified during implementation, the next phase will include gynecological health camps and psychologist-led support sessions, ensuring that children receive comprehensive care—physical, emotional, and psychological.
