Mero Pathshala

Mero Pathshala In 2008 Villy Chettri started visiting a slum in Kathmandu. In the slum, she found around 150 Hindi families who lives under harsh living conditions.

Even though the families have stayed in Nepal for more than 15 years, they are excluded from the Nepali society since they are not percieved as Nepali or speak the language. This means that the many children don't get education and starts to work from a very young age. The majority of the people are rag pickers, which means they pick up plastic bags for a living. Villy started giving her daughter'

s old clothes and slowly got to know the community by speaking her native language, Hindi. She started teaching the children and helping with injuries which are very common due to the working conditions. Until 2011 Villy had spend her own money, but in February the first donators were found and Mero Pathshala was founded.
