We are delighted to announce that our founder member, Mr. Raju Gyawali, Deputy Manager (Environment) at the Dudhkoshi Hydroelectric Project, proudly represented the Nepal Association for Impact Assessment (NAIA) at the IAIA26 Annual Conference held in Quebec, Canada.

During the conference, Mr. Gyawali presented his technical paper and displayed a Country Poster of Nepal, showcasing the country's progress in environmental impact assessment and reinforcing Nepal's presence within the global impact assessment community. He also participated in the IAIA Affiliates Sideline Meeting together with fellow Nepali delegates from various government agencies, where they exchanged experiences and strengthened professional networks with IAIA affiliates from around the world.

His participation underscores NAIA's unwavering commitment to advancing impact assessment practice, fostering international collaboration, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices at the global level.

Looking ahead, the IAIA27 Annual Conference will be held in New Zealand, offering another valuable platform for Nepalese professionals to share their expertise and contribute to international dialogue on impact assessment. NAIA encourages its members to begin preparing abstracts, technical papers, posters, and other scholarly contributions to ensure a strong and meaningful representation of Nepal at IAIA27.

Together, let us continue to elevate Nepal's profile in the international impact assessment community and demonstrate our collective commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable development.

The Nepal Association for Impact Assessment (NAIA), in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science, Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, successfully conducted an interaction program on “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Environmental Studies and Sustainability.”

The session featured Guest Scientist Dr. Parshuram Dahal (AI Research and Development Scientist, NASA, USA), who delivered an insightful presentation followed by an engaging interactive discussion. His session significantly enriched the program, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the rapidly growing role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing environmental challenges and advancing sustainable development.

Dr. Dahal’s expert insights into the practical applications of AI—particularly in environmental studies, sustainability planning, monitoring, and decision-support systems—were both inspiring and highly informative. The program benefited a diverse group of participants, including impact assessment professionals, faculty members, students, researchers, and invited stakeholders.

Drawing on his distinguished academic background, extensive international experience, and strong commitment to knowledge sharing, Dr. Dahal made a valuable contribution to enhancing awareness of how modern AI technologies can support evidence-based environmental analysis, foster innovation, and promote future-ready research in Nepal.

Following the program, NAIA has decided to initiate the Nepal–America AI Forum as a virtual networking platform (currently established as a WhatsApp group) to facilitate continued collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional engagement in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
