To contribute towards Rotary District 3292's goal of planting 100,000 trees during Rotary Year 2026โ27, the Rotary Club of Gongabu, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Gongabu North, successfully organized a Tree Plantation and Hiking Program at Jhanda Park, Ward No. 2, Tarakeshwar Municipality, Kathmandu, on July 25, 2026.
The program was conducted under the leadership of Club President Rtn. Binod Karki with the active participation of Immediate Past President Rtn. Rajaram Phuyal, Past Presidents Rtn. Kabita Manandhar and Rtn. Maheshwor Man Singh Basnet and President-Nominee Anuj shrestha .The program was attended by distinguished Rotarians including Rtn. Hareram Lamechhane, Rtn. Laxmi Gurung, Rtn. Pawan Dhital, Rtn. Damodar Ghimire, Rtn. Ravi Dhital, Rtn. Dham P. Bhattarai, and Rtn. Kashi Ram Basyal, along with many other members and volunteers.
A total of 55 Rotarians and Rotaractors enthusiastically participated in the event, planting 350 saplings of various native and environmentally beneficial tree species around Jhanda Park. The initiative was organized to promote environmental conservation, biodiversity, and climate action while supporting Rotary's commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future.
The event also featured a hiking program that strengthened fellowship among members and encouraged a healthy lifestyle while fostering a deeper appreciation for nature.
Speaking on the occasion, Club President Rtn. Binod Karki emphasized that tree plantation is one of the most meaningful investments for future generations, stating that every tree planted today contributes to cleaner air, a healthier environment, and a more sustainable Nepal.
IPP Rtn. Rajaram Phuyal highlighted the importance of collective action in environmental conservation, while Past President Rtn. Kabita Manandhar encouraged communities to take responsibility for protecting natural resources. Past President Rtn. Maheshwor Man Singh Basnet noted that planting trees is a simple yet powerful way to combat climate change and preserve biodiversity.
The Rotary Club of Gongabu expressed its sincere appreciation to all Rotarians, Rotaractors, local authorities, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the program. The club reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Rotary International's environmental initiatives and continuing impactful community service projects under the guiding principle of "Service Above Self."
