A Day of Democracy, Dialogue & Youth Leadership
The Bardaghat Model Parliament Assembly has successfully concluded with an inspiring display of confidence, leadership, and parliamentary practice by our young model parliamentarians.
After just one day of training, our youth participants stepped into the role of parliamentarians and delivered an exceptional performance. Seeing former Members of Parliament, sitting Members of Parliament, and aspiring young leaders come together on the same platform made the event truly special.
This was more than an event-it was an opportunity for young people to experience democracy, understand parliamentary practice, raise their voices, and prepare themselves for leadership.
A heartfelt thank you to all our model parliamentarians and participants, respected guests, Members of Parliament, Bardaghat Youth Circle, trainers, volunteers, media persons, sponsors, and supporters who contributed to making this program a grand success.
And a very special thank you to Nawalparasi for the overwhelming support and participation.

Day 1 of our Model Parliament has successfully concluded!
Today, our Youth Model Parliamentarians participated in an engaging workshop and learned the complete parliamentary process, procedures, and practices. Tomorrow, they will put their learning into practice through a full parliamentary simulation.
We will be sharing tomorrow’s program LIVE, so stay connected and witness our young parliamentarians in action.

Empowering Youth Through the Practice of Democracy 🇳🇵
Democracy is not something we simply learn from textbooks, it is something we must understand, practice, and experience.
A Model Parliament provides young people with a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of parliamentarians, engage in structured debates, discuss real issues, understand parliamentary procedures, and experience how laws and policies are shaped through dialogue and deliberation.
More importantly, it helps young people develop the skills that democracy demands: critical thinking, public speaking, leadership, negotiation, teamwork, research, respectful disagreement, and informed decision-making.
Through Model Parliament Assembly 2026, Bardaghat Youth Circle (BYC) and Educate Nepal Initiative aim to create a platform where young people can move beyond being passive observers of democracy and become active participants in the democratic process.
The goal is not simply to simulate a parliament. It is to build confidence, nurture responsible leadership, encourage civic participation, and inspire young people to understand their role in shaping the future of their communities and country.
Because the strength of a democracy depends not only on its institutions, but also on informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
Learn the process. Question the issues. Debate with purpose. Respect different voices. Lead with responsibility.
Today’s young participants can become tomorrow’s changemakers. 🇳🇵

We are thrilled to share that Pravat Badi from Kohalpur Municipality has been selected to receive a NPR 100,000 scholarship in support of his education. This scholarship was part of the Empowering the Future: Building Foundational Skills in Rural Nepal project, led by our former Program Coordinator, Nischal Singh Bista, through the Wisconsin Idea Fellowship. The project introduced programming and computer science to students from community schools in Kohalpur and encouraged them to dream bigger. More about project here: https://www.edunep.org/programs/1

Pravat will be pursuing Science at Bal Vidya Mandir Secondary School, Kohalpur Banke, and this scholarship will help cover his tuition, examination fees, and other educational expenses.
Pravat's curiosity, passion for learning, and commitment made a lasting impression throughout the program. We are honored to support him as he takes this next step in his academic journey.

Apply Now: WIF IT Fellowship Program

We are excited to announce that applications for the WIF IT Fellowship Program are now open. This 12-week program is designed to empower students from Grade 8-12 in Kohalpur Municipality with foundational skills in computer science, digital literacy, and the responsible use of AI tools.

What You’ll Learn in this program:

- Web Development: Build and design websites/games from scratch.

- Python: Learn the basics of one of the most popular programming languages.

- Artificial Intelligence: Understand the concepts and applications of AI

- Career Guidance and Mentorship : Get expert advice on building a successful career in tech

- Study Abroad and Scholarship Opportunities : Explore pathways to higher education and funding

Who can apply:
Students in grades 8 to 12 from Kohalpur Municipality who are motivated, curious, and committed to completing the full 12-week program.

Exciting News!

We’re thrilled to share that our Program Coordinator, Nischal Singh Bista — a second-year student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison — has been awarded the prestigious Wisconsin Idea Fellowship for his visionary project:
“Empowering the Future: Building Foundational Skills in Rural Nepal.”

This meaningful initiative will be mentored by Dr. Mayra I. Oyola Merced, and we’re beyond proud to announce that Educate Nepal Initiative will serve as the official partner organization for this impactful journey.

We are delighted to announce that the Educate Nepal Initiative (EduN) has successfully entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with BacharLorai (https://www.facebook.com/bacharlorai2020), a social impact agency based in Canada. The aim of this MoU is to establish a collaborative partnership between BacharLorai and EduN, aimed at promoting and supporting the needs of the Bangladeshi and Nepali diaspora in New York and Toronto. Our President, Mr. Samundra Timalsina, and representatives from BacharLorai engaged in discussions and mutually recognized that our combined efforts will significantly improve and create better resources for those in need. This collaboration has brought new responsibilities to the EduN family, and we extend our gratitude to everyone who played a role in this process. We are committed to upholding the responsibilities outlined in the MoU and faithfully fulfilling our obligations to contribute to society. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Anil Wasif Talukder, Aaraf Ahmed, Farhim Warith Zaman and other partners who were directly involved in this process. Congratulations to all of us on this achievement!
