A voice that once challenged the silence is now becoming a collective voice of a new generation.
Sunil Babu Pant’s journey represents more than a chapter in Nepal’s LGBTIQA+ movement_ it represents the courage to enter spaces where our voices were once excluded, to challenge systems that were never designed with us in mind, and to demand equality not as a favour, but as a fundamental right.
Today, Nepal’s LGBTIQA+ youth are carrying that voice forward…..
We are not asking to be represented merely as a community to be spoken about. We are demanding the right to speak for ourselves, lead for ourselves, participate in politics, shape policies, and make decisions that directly affect our lives.

Our struggle is not only about sexual orientation or gender identity. It is about citizenship, identity, education, employment, healthcare, social security, dignity, political representation, freedom from violence and discrimination, and equal participation in the democratic process.
Equality cannot remain a constitutional promise written on paper. It must become a lived reality—in government offices, schools, workplaces, hospitals, banks, political parties, local governments, Parliament, and every institution where decisions about our lives are made.
The presence of LGBTIQA+ people in politics must not be symbolic. We need meaningful representation, meaningful participation, and meaningful power. We need young leaders who understand the realities of our communities and have the courage to transform those realities through policy and political action.
Sunil Babu Pant opened a door that many believed could never be opened. The responsibility of this generation is not simply to walk through that door—it is to open many more doors for those who are still waiting outside.
To Nepal’s LGBTIQA+ youth: our identities are not weaknesses. Our differences are not limitations. Our voices are not optional.
We belong in the rooms where decisions are made.
We belong in political parties.
We belong in local governments.
We belong in Parliament.
We belong wherever the future of Nepal is being shaped.
The next chapter of the movement cannot be written about us without us.
It must be written with us, by us, and alongside us.
From one pioneering voice to a generation of voices—
from visibility to participation,
from participation to leadership,
from leadership to power,
and from promises to implementation.
This is not merely a demand for inclusion.
This is a demand for equality.
This is a demand for dignity.
This is a demand for democracy.
