We went to see a theater play that was depicting the life of the Great Yogi Milarepa. The comedians were amazing and the play was so well made! We all had a fabulous time and we look forward to seeing more theater plays.
(Event sponsored by Lobsang sangbo and Raissa).

Nyima Dolma:
Melarepa is one of the greatest yogis in Tibetan Buddhism. His life itself is a teaching. He suffered deeply, brought disasters that made serious mistake, practice with great hardship, and finally reached enlightenment. Because of this his teaching are very practical and real not just a philosophy.

Phurbu Bhuti:
After death, only thing that, we are talking is our sin , virtue and kindness. Love and compassion can even change our enemy's heart.

Tsering Khando:
I have been hearing about the story of Melarepa from school but after seeing the act it feels very real and emotional. The Moral is that we we shouldn't lie. One who work hard will success.

Lhakpa Dolma:
We should be patient to achieve something. According to dharma, money is nothing compared to good karma and virtue.

Tsering Sangmo
Most important lesson that I learned from this story is we should not go after property. We shouldn't misuse our power. We shouldn't judge people by their looks. Whatever bad thing we do to others will come back to our self.

Tsewang Bhuti
According to Buddhist, karma is if other are doing bad to us we shouldn't do same thing instead we should feed them back by loving and compassion. Money and property is not everything.

Suren:
According to Guru Rinpoche, until and unless we are enlighten and there is no pure happiness.

Sonam Choden:
Our struggles and suffering are nothing compared to Melarepa's story.
We shouldn't give up until and unless we succeed. We should be satisfied with what we have because after death there is nothing we can take with.

Tsering Bhuti:
A mother's love are so pure or true that sometimes it makes us fail to success. If we want to become happy, a small and simple thing can make us happy.

Lalita:
Education and darma shouldn't be only in books we should utilise it in our daily life then only it's darma.Money can't buy darma. Whatever we do karma will do it back to us.

Anil Gurung:
What i learned from Melarepa's story is that if we never do hard work we will not be successful in our life. To be successful we need dedication and patience.

Urgyen:
The story of Melarepa was full of dedication and inspiring. What I learned from this story is we shouldn't chase after money or property. The main purpose of our life should be achieve enlightenment and maintain peace 🕊️ and happiness. This drama shows that how much impact can get to our society or other just because of only few people's doing.Karma is the only thing that we can take along with us after death. So wealth or property we have now is just a temporary after death. The major way to do darma is forgiveness, being compassion, patience, kindness and honesty.

Som:
I think our time and money just worth it for yesterday's drama. What i got is that how much hatred and revenge can destroy everything.

Lhakpa Tsering:
I feel myself very fortunate to see the drama of Melarepa and heard the name of Melarepa. So through the drama I learned that all the sentient being has suffering until reach enlightenment. So we don't attach too much on the property or money because at last we have nothing to do with it. The practice of darma is beneficial for cultivation of our mind.

The First Term Exam results were quite ok, but they showed that almost all students had difficulties in English. So our Hostel Manager, Sonam Wangmo, put together a program to improve all students English language skills:

"I came up with the idea to help the students improve their skills in English via YouTube
tutorials. I personally select the suitable channels for the students after researching and comparing
many channels with each other. I handpick the best ones for our students after considering their
English proficiency level.
We have virtual class for half an hour in the morning from 06.45 to 07.15 during which students watch videos to strengthen their skills in grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills.
I have divided students into three groups, junior [class 5 and 6], senior [class 7,8,10] and college students [class 11,12]. Our juniors have class on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for half an hour which is monitored by myself. Our seniors have class on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday where they have classes on their own whereas for our college students don’t have official class. They learn on their own but they have to come up with assignment at the end of week. I give assignment at the end of session so that students
can make use of what they learn in the morning.
It has been three weeks since we started the class. Our students are already speaking English more often than usual. Even though there are noticeable grammar mistakes while speaking but our
students have been able to express themselves with very little grammar issue via writing. I believe that this program is also helping students to express themselves because they write the assignments based on their personal experiences."

Students feedback:

"I feel like I have realized where to use grammars in right place after class. I have also improved my essay writing skill."
- Tsering Bhuti

"Thanks to presentation session on Saturday evening I feel I have boosted my confidence. I also improve my English speaking a lot thanks to the class."
- Sonam Lhamo

"The assignments help me realize I am very much bad in English and really need work in it. I really enjoy the assignments and reading my work in group and listening to my friend’s writings too."
- Sonam Choden

Today at Utpala, Boudha not far from our hostel, was the Nepal Vegan Gallery exhibition of beautiful drawings for animal rights some of which were made by Nepali Youths.

I saw a lot of creative paintings and it made me realize we have to protect and be gentle to animals.
- Som Bahadur
I was so happy to see such arts at utpala and we also saw people dancing and singing. I learned to not kill animals for meats and our benefits.
- Anil Gurung
There were beautiful arts, dancing and singing. The exhibition was to discourage eating meat. Today's theme of Market was vegetarian.
- Suren Gurung
I was very excited to explore the art exhibition today. I learned something very important "All the animals need, happiness and freedom of their own so we should not kill animals for our benefit. Also we should abondon eating meat because it means we are attacking their dear life and family of their own. We are not making them happy".
- lhakpa Tsering
Today's art exhibition was from vegan people. The arts was all about how animals suffer because of people. It was a very nice and informative exbition and made me realize things I haven't thought before.
- Phurbu Bhuti
We need to give freedom to animals just like us. Don't take advantage of silence.
- lhakpa Dolma
I was inspired to become vegetarian from my cousin brother. I thinks it's a very ill to eat meat. They are just like us. We are all equal.

On Saturday we went to see a nice little exhibition in a gallery in Kathmandu, art from Dolpo by two artists from Dolpo. The life in Dolpo is very similar to where we come from in the Himalayas. It was so nice to see art and meet the artists (in the group picture with us on left and right sides).

Som
It was so nice to see many beautiful arts related to dolpo.

Passang dolma
After I witnessed the art I remembered my own village life which was very similar.

Phurbu bhuti
I got to know how nomads used to live in dolpo. Also I saw a crystal keeper which was the same as our village where we store salt in our village.

Tsewang bhuti
The art was done by two artists and they were really friendly with us. The art was so meaningful that it shows the lifestyle of Dolpo and Mustang people.

Tsering sangmo
All I knew was related to village style were they live their life as nomads. In one art I saw the houses of Dolpo which was all made with rocks, wood and clay. Their lifestyle was so simple as my village.

Sonam lhamo
At the entrance I saw childhood pic of HHDalai lama. The art was done with beautiful colours and paint. And lastly I saw that in exhibition hall all the volunteers were in dolpo dress.

During the revolution week, we stayed inside. Our helper, Laxmi, could’t walk to the hostel as the roads were turbulent on her side. So we proudly took care of our own living space, and we prepared all meals together. We also studied a lot for our exams. Our exams are completing this week, and soon we will be on a long holiday for Dashain festival. We are all looking forward to spending time with our family!
