The Partners Nepal (TPN) remains firmly committed to protecting and restoring the fragile ecosystems of Solukhumbu and Langtang National Park.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Ngawang Sherpa (Gerja) and his family for their generous contribution of NPR 15,000 in support of our “One Day One Tree” initiative.

Since its inception in March 2016, The Partners Nepal - TPN has received numerous contributions from friends of TPN from Internatonal, National and the local level. As a result, TPN has achieved an impressive 95% success rate in its environmental restoration efforts despite of high altitude climate. With the continued support of our friends and donors, we are actively restoring and maintaining alpine ecosystems in deforested and degraded areas of Solukhumbu and Langtang.

We warmly encourage environmentally conscious individuals to join hands with us in advancing these vital conservation efforts. Protecting our planet’s ecosystems is a shared responsibility, and together we can make a lasting impact.

We sincerely thank everyone who has supported our mission and reaffirm our commitment to conserving and restoring the natural heritage of Solukhumbu and Langtang.

ONE DAY ONE TREE – Restoring Alpine Ecosystems in Sagarmatha NP & Buffer Zone

Since 2016, The Partners Nepal has planted over 30,000 native saplings—fir, rhododendron, juniper, and birch—across severely degraded sites in Sagarmatha National Park and its buffer zone. Supported by Hauser Exkursionen, Nepal Hilfe-Tirol, Engage Nepal, Aerotelegraph, Peak Aid Japan, One Tree Planted, LED Education, and generous individuals, this initiative oovercome the overgrazing, fuelwood harvesting, and the impacts of unregulated tourism and climate change.
• Field Leads: Min Bahadur Rai, Phurba Gyalzen Sherpa, Ang Temba Sherpa
• Executive Oversight: Bheem Raj Rai, Bhala Kaji Kulung
• July 2025 Update: 3,000 additional trees planted in Pangboche and Khunde to replace losses from drought and harsh weather.
• Local Impact: Planting native trees in the area has significantly impacted cultural and environmental preservation. The One Day One Tree project aided in the conservation and restoration of fragile alpine ecosystems above 3900m, which had been neglected by the international conservation community in the upper Khumbu and other mountain regions, prompting this reforestation initiative. Planting trees in degraded areas has not only contributed to the conservation and restoration of fragile alpine ecosystems but has also provided economic incentives to locals during the off-season for trekking and mountaineering.
This targeted reforestation above 3,900 m not only restores fragile ecosystems but also reinforces local livelihoods and climate-resilience in the Upper Khumbu.

The Partners Nepal—a committed non-profit—launched the “One Day One Tree” campaign in 2018 to reverse deforestation and restore ecological balance in Chheskam, Solukhumbu. By inviting every community member, schoolchild, and volunteer to plant a tree each day, the initiative sparks local ownership of forest regeneration, wildlife habitat protection, and climate resilience.

In June 2026, The Partners Nepal and the Chamlang Creative Youth Society—with generous support from Manfred Braml from Germany and Geoff Bailey and Jamberoo Native Nursery (Australia)—planted:
• 500 Utis (Alnus nepalensis)
• 650 rhododendrons
• 78 ranichap
• 86 kali chap
• 40 locally sourced saplings

We’re profoundly grateful for this partnership—together, we’re nurturing Solukhumbu’s fragile
alpine woods back to health, one tree at a time.
