📢Handicap International in Nepal continues its mission to ensure functional rehabilitation in remote areas and awareness about it 💙💪

We recently conducted three “Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Outreach Camps” in Bhur Pokhara, Gharanga, and Talegau of Jajarkot district Health post reaching 229 individuals (Male:80, Female:149) persons with impairments, functional limitation and disability, many of whom were in urgent need of functional rehabilitation services. In partnership with Pach Tara Yuwa samrakshak Manch (PTSYM) -Jajarkot, local governments, and health facilities, these camps provided pain management, mobility support, and rehabilitation services to individuals affected by musculoskeletal conditions, neurological impairments, and other disabilities.

💡But that’s not all! Altogether 185 individuals received different assistive devices such as wheelchairs 🦽, crutches, walking sticks, and orthotic supports, improving mobility and independence in their daily life . These efforts not only addressed immediate rehabilitation needs but also raised awareness on functional recovery at the community level.
💙✨
Every step counts in making rehabilitation accessible for all! Let’s continue working together to create a more inclusive and supportive society for everyone.

🔥Strengthening Health related Disaster Preparedness in Martadi, Melamchi, and Nalgad Hospitals! 🚑

Handicap International (HI)- Nepal, in partnership with Human Resource Center (HRC) , PanchTara Yuwa Samrakshak Manch - Jajarkota and Tuki Association Sunkoshi ( TASK) is contributing towards strengthening hospital resilience to ensure safer, more inclusive healthcare during emergencies. We recently conducted a two-Day workshop on Hospital Disaster Preparedness and Response bringing together experts from Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Patan Academy of Health Sciences and HI Nepal, along with hospital staff, local authorities, security forces, the Nepal Red Cross Society, and disability rights organizations.
Here’s what we achieved to enhance emergency readiness and minimize preventable mortality, morbidity, and disability after the workshop:

✅ Updated/developed hospital disaster & epidemic preparedness and response plans
✅ Integrated critical data using the HSI+ App (Hospital Safety Index)
✅ Conducted a hands-on earthquake response tabletop exercise (mock drill) to strengthen emergency readiness

These are key steps toward a stronger, safer, and more disaster-resilient healthcare system!

🌟 On this International Day of Education, we celebrate the transformative power of learning while acknowledging the millions of children, especially girls, who remain excluded from this fundamental right. 📚✨

Take Aakasha Gole from Rautahat, Nepal a young girl with hearing impairments who was once unable to attend her local ECED center. Through the Inclusive ECED Project 💡, she was identified during early screening and introduced to picture-aided communication 📖🖼️, empowering her to engage in basic interactions. Today, Aakasha learns alongside her peers 🌈—a shining example that inclusive education is not only possible but life-changing.

Let stories like Aakasha’s inspire us! Together, we can break barriers 💪 and create a world where every child 🌟—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream big. 🌍✨ 🎉
