International Human Rights Day 2025- “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials”

Today, we reaffirm a truth that should never be negotiable: every person deserves dignity, equality, and freedom without exception.
For many q***r persons with disabilities, the journey toward claiming these rights is layered with multiple barriers, from inaccessible healthcare and education to stigma, discrimination, and invisibility in both disability and LGBTQIA+ movements. Their identities are not separate, and our advocacy should not be separated either.

As we honor this day with this year’s theme, let us commit to:
🔹 Upholding intersectional human rights that recognize the lived realities of q***r disabled individuals, because human rights are not abstract. They are our everyday essentials.
🔹 Demanding inclusive policies that protect their bodily autonomy, safety, and access to housing, healthcare, work, education, and community. These are essentials we all need.
🔹 Amplifying voices of q***r people with disabilities who continue leading change despite systemic challenges.
🔹 Creating spaces where love, identity, disability, and diversity are celebrated, not erased.

Human rights belong to everyone, and this year’s theme reminds us that these rights are the daily essentials we all depend on for a life of dignity, safety, and belonging.
Until q***r disabled persons can live freely, safely, and proudly, our struggle remains incomplete.

Let us stand together for justice, equality, and dignity for all.

Today Nepal comes alive with the joyous spirits of Yomari Punhi and Udhauli , two beautiful celebrations that remind us of our roots, our crops, and our community.

For the Newar community in the Kathmandu Valley, Yomari Punhi marks the full-moon festival of Dhanya Purnima, honouring the harvest and enjoying the sweet, traditional “yomari” dumpling made with rice-flour and molasses. It’s a time for gratitude, family, and cultural pride.

At the same time, our Kirat sisters and brothers across the hills celebrate Udhauli a festival of thanksgiving to nature and ancestors, symbolizing the season’s change and a bountiful harvest. With traditional dances, prayers to the land, and community gatherings, Udhauli brings together Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar, Yakkha and many others in thanksgiving and joy.

They reflect Nepal’s incredible blend of cultures and the harmony in our diversity. Today, we all share in the spirit of unity, gratitude, and hope for prosperity and peace for everyone. May today's celebrations inspire kindness, understanding, and equal participation in every community space.

✨ Wishing everyone peace, happiness, and a sense of belonging.
Happy Yomari Punhi & Udhauli! ✨

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a global reminder of our collective responsibility to build a world rooted in dignity, accessibility, and equality.

This year, we reaffirm that disability rights are human rights and that conversations about inclusion must embrace the full diversity of our communities. That includes disabled q***r individuals, who often face intersecting barriers and discrimination simply for being who they are.

True inclusion demands that every space from healthcare to education, from work to activism is accessible, affirming, and safe for disabled LGBTQ+ people.

As we observe this important day, we call for policies, services, and social attitudes that honor the autonomy, voices, and leadership of disabled communities in all their identities.

Let’s commit to strengthening accessibility, celebrating diversity, and ensuring no one is left behind.

World AIDS Day 2025 reminds us of the global commitment to this year’s theme:
“Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.”

As we reflect on progress and challenges, it is important to highlight the experiences of communities that are too often overlooked including disabled and q***r individuals, who face layered barriers to healthcare, visibility, and dignity. Ending AIDS requires an inclusive approach where every person, regardless of disability, identity, or orientation, has equal access to prevention, treatment, and support.

On 1st December, 2025 Rainbow Disability Nepal participated in the candle-lighting event to honor lives lost and to stand in solidarity with people living with HIV. 🕯️

Let us reaffirm our commitment to a future free from stigma, discrimination, and inequality.
No one should be left behind.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Holding Space for Q***r Disabled Lives

As the world enters the 16 Days of Activism, many of us carry stories that have never been spoken aloud. Stories of closets within closets where q***rness, disability, and survival sit together in the dark.

For q***r disabled people, gender-based violence often looks like
silenced pain,
unseen bruises,
a caregiver’s control,
a partner’s manipulation,
a system that says “we don’t have services for you,”
a society that treats some bodies as less worthy of protection.

But our lives are not footnotes.
Our voices are not optional.
Our safety is not negotiable.

✨ This year, we honor every q***r disabled person who has ever felt unheard, unbelieved, or unseen.
We speak your name.
We fight for your dignity.
We stand with you loudly, fiercely, tenderly.

May these 16 days remind us that justice is not complete until every q***r disabled person can exist without fear, love without danger, and live without violence.

Rainbow Disability Nepal extends its heartfelt gratitude to the French Embassy in Nepal for supporting us through their micro-funding initiative this winter. ❄️🧣

With their generous contribution, we were able to distribute warm clothing to the community members, ensuring dignity, comfort, and safety during the cold season.

This support not only helps meet immediate needs but also strengthens our ongoing mission to promote inclusion, accessibility, and wellbeing for all persons with disabilities within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

We are deeply thankful for this meaningful partnership and for standing with us in creating a more compassionate and equitable society. 🤝🌈

Rainbow Disability Nepal at AIDA Hackathon 2025!

We’re excited to share that Rainbow Disability Nepal (RDN) proudly participated as the Q***r Disability Partner at the AIDA Hackathon 2025 Nepal, held from November 14–16, 2025. This was RDN’s first-ever involvement in a tech-innovation event of this scale a meaningful milestone for our journey of advocating for inclusive, accessible futures.

Organized by Prateek Innovations and DEV Community Nepal, the hackathon brought together bright minds to create AI-powered solutions aimed at enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. We were thrilled to witness such commitment toward building technology that empowers, includes, and uplifts marginalized communities.

A heartfelt thank you to the organizers, participants, and everyone who engaged with our mission during the event. Together, we move closer to a world where technology embraces all of us. 💜♿🌈
