On 17 July 2026, a multi-stakeholder coordination meeting was convened to observe World Population Day 2026. The event was jointly organized by the National Network for Safe Migration (NNSM), Population Association of Nepal (PAN) and the Nepal Institute of Peace (NIP) in a collaborative partnership aimed at examining the provisions and reviewing the implementation status of the National Population Policy 2026.
The meeting drew the participation of over fifty representatives from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, media houses, and academic institutions. The distinguished presence of the Honorable Mr. Devendra Gauchan, Member of the National Planning Commission, lent further significance to the proceedings.
The technical session featured a presentation by Mr. Jhabindra Pandey, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Food Security, who provided a comprehensive overview of the policy framework and its current implementation progress. This was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring Ms. Chandani Rana, Vice-Chairperson of both NNSM and PAN; Mr. Chiranjibi Baral, Executive Director of NIDS; Dr. Uddhav Sigdel, representing CDPS-TU; and Mr. Mukti Khanal, recently retired Official of the Government of Nepal. The panel was skillfully moderated by Mr. Nilambar Badal.
The meeting served as a vital platform for fostering constructive dialogue and multi-sectorial coordination, reinforcing the collective commitment to advancing Nepal's population and development agenda.
