Our team had the opportunity to coordinate visit of Mr Gunther to Namgyal-School Gokarna this afternoon for a short follow up on the past projects primarily the upgrading of computer lab from Mike Chisholm (New Zealand) through Edutech Nepal. The meeting paved way to discuss avenues for future projects. Mr Gunther was escorted by NGAA President Tashi Dorjee, Vice president Dorjee Wangyal and executives Tashi Tsering and Tsering Chungdak.

Alumni spotlight: Lobsang Chodear, Class of 1998

With immense joy and pride, we celebrate our alum, Mr. Lobsang Chodear, more fondly known as “Tony” for authoring the book “Football- the beautiful game: performance unleashed”. Written in 2008, its third edition (2026) is now available for purchase on Amazon in two versions of paperback and e-kindle version.

The book blends practical coaching insight with reflections on the philosophy, psychology and deeper understanding of football. It is easy to comprehend while visually captivating showing over 110 illustrations.

Tony is a football (soccer) coach, writer and an educator, based in Nepal. With decades of experience in the game, he has coached many players across all age groups, from five year old beginners to veteran players in their sixties.

A farewell program was hosted for the outgoing NGAA executive members on Jan 31st, 2026 at Anuttara Hotel, Boudha. The program was marked with felicilation program honoring the 3rd term executives who have served from Oct 2023 to Dec 2025, leading Namgyal Gokarna Alumni Association, Nepal initiatives.

The program was graced by Namgyal Secondary School Principal, headmaster, SLF education officer, 3rd and 4th term executives and long standing supporters and wellwishers.

At the program incumbent President Tashi Dorjee la expressed gratitude to all outgoing members and wished them well. Principal Norbu Tsering la dedicated a gratitude poem by William Shakespeare to former members.

The program not only extended gratitude to former executives but also all the supporters who have extended their time, resources and guidance in taking forward our organization's mission. We take this opportunity to thank all of you, near and far, who have kept us in your hearts and been supportive throughout. We may not be able to name all of you but your contribution deserve all the adulations.

On Saturday, January 10, NGAA third term executives held a handover ceremony at its office in Kalimpong Complex, marking the transition from the outgoing executive team to the newly elected executives.

The outgoing President, Kalsang Wangchuk la, together with his team, formally welcomed ten new executives who will serve during the 4th term of the NGAA office for the next two years. The selection of the new members was made with careful consideration to ensure broader representation across different class batches. The final list of executives is as follows:

1. Tashi Dorjee, President
2. Dorjee Wangyal, Vice President
3. Ngawang Choephel, Treasurer
4. Bhumsang, Executive
5. Tashi Tsering, Executive
6. Tenzin Namgyal, Executive
7. Tsering Chungdak, Executive
8. Dawa Choedon, Executive
9. Tsewang Gyurmey, Executive
10. Pema Thaye, Executive

Tsewang la and Pema la, could not make it due to their personal commitments, but we are happy that they, along with Tse Chungdak la chose to accept our request for taking part as executives, representing the younger voices of the alumni community. More power to you both!

The handover ceremony saw many alumni friends joining in to offer their best wishes to the new team. As NGAA journeys ahead we wish and hope for new members to join in our organization's efforts to make a difference in our alma mater and the broader alumni community.

Namgyal Gokarna Alumni Association's reunion picnic concluded yesterday in presence of our alumni friends and members from Namgyal Sec School. The exuberant members joined in for a fun filled day playing games- school styled including the tug of war between houses which surely was won by Jamyang house, and the open round was easily won by Lhamo Tsokpa. There was also the pot breaking game and ever so popular Tambola. Despite the unpredictable weather atop the Switzerland park, we are warmed with the great hospitality from Sherpa Hills resort team and awe struck by the mesmerizing view from up there. We are thankful to all the people who joined in to share the day with us, especially the members of Lhamo Tsokpa (NTLA) for bringing in added charm and playing wonderful music for the Gorshey session. The joy they brought through these cultural presentation was unmatched. The day ended with offering of sangsol and hope in heart to relive such memories again in future.

Next weekend on 25th October, NGAA is going to host its second alumni reunion picnic at Sherpa Hills, Swiss Park, Ramkot. We welcome you to join us at the picnic and experience the joy of reuniting with former friends and members of our alma mater. The picnic will have games, music and fun activities and lots of fresh air up on the beautiful Sherpa hill. Do join us to make this event a joyous and memorable one. We look forward to see you all.

Six years back on October 1, 2019 NGAA was formally registered to start it's operation as an alumni non profit organization. Through this six year journey NGAA was fortunate to come across many alumni friends who reconnected with us to support our initiatives, primarily to deliver our support to the endeavour of our alma mater Namgyal Sec School, popularly known as Namgyal Gokarna School.

Today on Oct 1, we celebrated this momentous day with a small cake cutting and gathering session. It was a wonferful gathering with some of alumni friends and executive members, including President, Vice President, Secretary and advisor, reminiscing old school days and days spend working with NGAA. We extend our gratitude to all of our supporters and wellwishers who have journeyed with us in this course and hope for continued love and support.

To more foundation days, cheers!

The recent waves of protest have brought about a change in leadership in Nepal, yet it is deeply saddening that this progress has come at the cost of so many young lives and suffering of countless families. We stand in solidarity, honoring the courage and valor of those who lost their lives in pursuit of justice and better future of Nepal.

In the light of these recent events, NGAA has decided to postpone its reunion event (scheduled earlier on September 20), to Saturday, October 25. The venue and other details are still the same.
