🔴It's been more than a year working on an ambitious campaign "Reading Habit Cultivation" for the first time in Nepal and we had several successful events in the past in Pokhara Valley.
Some of the notable achievements include:✅

The second day of tihar is called Kukur (dog) Tihar, people do puja. On this day, all dogs, whether pets or strays, are offered treats and worshipped by placing a tika on their forehead and garlands of marigolds around their necks. This day marks the special relationship of human and dogs. At the gates of Svarga, Yudhishthira refuses to enter without the dog, who reveals himself to be the god Yama. Thus, the ancient bond between man and dog is established in the Mahabharata.

As mentioned in the Mahabharata,Bhairava, a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, had a dog as a vahana (vehicle). Yama, the god of death, is believed to own two guard dogs – each with four eyes. The dogs are said to watch over the gates of Naraka, the Hindu concept of HellOwing to this belief, this day is also observed as Naraka Chaturdashi.

Kukur Tihar has since acquired widespread popularity on the internet and in 2016, was even adopted by a Mexican animal rights group for a similar celebration in Mexico City.

काग तिहार किम्नदन्ती

नेपालमा मनाइने दोस्रो ठूलो चाड तिहार हो ।कार्तिक महिनाको कृष्णपक्षको त्रयोदशीदेखि लगातार पाँच दिनसम्म यो पर्व मनाइन्छ । यो पाँच दिनको अवधिलाई यमपञ्चक पनि भन्दछन्। यमपञ्चक लागेपछि भगवान् सूर्यका पुत्र एवं मृत्युका देवता यमराज यमलोकबाट बहिनी यमुनाको घर मर्त्यलोकमा आएर यमपञ्चकभरि विराजमान भई भाइटीका लगाएपछि यमलोक फर्कने पौराणिक आख्यान रहेको छ। यमपञ्चकको प्रारम्भमा आफू पृथ्वीलोकमा आउन लागेको संकेत दिन यमराजले आफ्ना दूत कागलाई पठाउने गर्दछन्। यमराजका दाजु शनिदेवको वाहन
समेत रहेका कागलाई यमराजको विशेष दूत मानिन्छ। यसर्थ यमदूतका रूपमा बिहानै कागको पूजा गर्ने गरिन्छ, काग तिहार । वर्षभरि मानिसको वरिपरि घुमिरहने कागलाई काग तिहारका दिन टाढैबाट वा प्रतीकात्मक पूजा गरी कागलाई मन पर्ने माछा, मासुसँग भात वा अन्य मीठा खानेकुरा (काकबलि ) दिएर हे
महामति यमदूत काग, हामीले दिएको खानेकुरा ग्रहण गरी प्रसन्न होऊ र यमदण्डरूपी संकटबाट मुक्ति दिलाऊ भनी प्रार्थना गर्नुपर्दछ ।

काकोऽसि यमदूतोऽसि वायसोऽसि
महामते ।
इमं बलिं गृहाण त्वं त्रायस्व यमसङ्कटात् ।।

यसरी विशेष पूजा तथा काकबलिद्वारा कागलाई प्रसन्न पारिने दिन भएकाले तिहारको प्रारम्भिक दिनलाई काग तिहार भन्ने गरिन्छ।
कागतिहारमा कागको पूजा गरी खानेकुरा दिनाले मृत्युपछि यमलोक जानुपर्दैन भन्ने धार्मिक विश्वास रहेको छ ।
