Today, on the International Day for the Right to Truth, Advocacy Forum-Nepal and 23 signatory organizations stand in solidarity with the victims of human rights violations in Nepal.

Despite 20 years passing since the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the "Right to Truth" remains a hollow promise. From the conflict era to the recent Gen-Z movements, families are still being denied the fate of their loved ones while the government shields itself behind non-transparent commissions.

Our key demands to the Government of Nepal:
✅ Resign: Current TRC/CIEDP commissioners must step down to make way for a credible, merit-based process.
✅ Release: Immediately make public the Karki, Mallik, Rayamajhi, and Lal Commission reports.
✅ Reform: Amend the TRC law to ensure NO amnesties for war crimes or SGBV, aligning with international standards.

We call on the international community to refrain from supporting any process that risks granting amnesty for crimes against humanity. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Mission Smile successfully conducted an interactive cyber crime awareness training at ग्राम शिक्षा मा.बि, a government school, with the aim of educating students and teachers about the increasing risks of cyber crime in today’s digital era.

The session emphasized digital safety and responsible internet use, covering key issues such as cyberbullying, online fraud, identity theft, hacking, and the misuse of social media platforms. Participants were guided on how to protect personal data, identify suspicious online activities, and respond appropriately to cyber-related threats.

Through engaging discussions and practical examples, the training empowered students to become aware and responsible digital citizens, while also equipping teachers with the knowledge to support and guide students in the digital space. Mission Smile continues its commitment to spreading awareness and building safer digital environments for children and youth.

After two long years of relentless struggle at the Kathmandu District Court, justice has finally been served in the case of Ms. Kanchan Shah. Her recognition of relationship has been legally established, marking not just a personal victory, but a milestone for every woman and survivor who continues to fight for dignity, identity, and justice in this country.

When the verdict was announced, Kanchan broke into tears, knelt down, and bowed her head in the floor of court; her words trembling through sobs: “Justice is alive.” That moment was not just about her; it was about every unheard voice, every silenced cry, and every woman who dares to hope in a system that often feels too heavy to fight against.

Mission Smile Nepal had introduced Kanchan’s story years ago, standing beside her through the darkest moments of her journey. Today’s judicial victory is proof that resilience, solidarity, and courage can bring light even in the face of immense obstacles. But we also recognize that this is not the end; it is only one battle won. The larger struggle against social injustice, structural discrimination, and gender bias is still ahead.

This verdict fuels our belief that no fight for justice is ever in vain. It is a reminder that while the road may be long and painful, truth eventually finds its way. Our organization expresses deep outrage and profound sorrow over the heinous r**e and brutal murder of an 18-year-old minor girl in Imadol. This incident is not only a violation of an individual’s rights but also a direct assault on the safety, dignity, and freedom of all women.

The cries of the grieving family at the cremation ground; the wailing of the mother and the sobs of the sisters have laid bare the inhumanity of this crime. Such an act is a grave affront to humanity, justice, and morality, and we stand united in strong opposition to it.

We demand an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation into this incident. The perpetrator(s) must be subjected to the harshest punishment permissible by law. The government and concerned authorities must ensure justice, provide necessary protection and support to the victim’s family, and take urgent and effective measures to prevent such crimes from recurring.

We call upon civil society, women’s rights defenders, the media, and all conscious citizens to speak in one voice against this atrocity and to raise a strong demand for justice on behalf of the victim.
