OSRL organized an external hands-on workshop on victim-centric grievance handling practices on 15 December 2025, facilitated by OSRL Lead, Swechhya Rajbhandary.

The session built off our recent session at Martin Chautari as well as the work that OSRL has been doing at King's College for the past six years.

The session content focused on unpacking concepts such as the “ideal victim,” victim blaming, and the wheel of power and privilege, alongside a clear discussion of what victim-centric practice is and what it is not. These themes were revisited through additional case studies and guided reflections, allowing participants to connect the concepts to real-world grievance handling contexts.

Thank you to the participants for their active participation. We look forward to organizing more such sessions in the future.

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, OSRL hosted a session for staff and faculty to strengthen our understanding of disabilities, reflect on our own experiences, and build our capacity as allies.

The participants explored how disability touches our lives, discussed disability categories in Nepal and brought attention to areas that often go unnoticed, such as chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities. The session also covered identity-first and person-first language and concluded with practical steps we can take to support disability inclusion across the institution.

Every 1st of December is marked as 'World AIDS Day’. The theme for 2025 is ‘Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response’. As services face disruptions and risks increase for many communities, the call for strong leadership, global cooperation and human-rights-centred action is more urgent than ever.

Observed since 1988, this day reminds us that HIV is not a death sentence. With proper information, testing, and treatment, people living with HIV can live long and healthy lives. Reducing stigma begins with awareness, open dialogue and a willingness to learn.

On November 4, Swechhya Rajbhandary, Head of the Office of Safe and Respectable Learning, and Sushobhan Chimoriya, Program Coordinator, shared their work on preventing harassment in higher education at Martin Chautari.

The discussion was thoughtful and genuinely validating to the work we do through OSRL. Engaging with an audience that reflected deeply on these issues felt especially meaningful.

We are always open to continuing dialogues on harassment prevention, identity, and inclusion. If you or your institution would like to explore these topics, please feel free to reach out.

We continued our feedback collection session for this cohort on the 3rd of June 2025.

This was a more intimate session where the class ambassadors learned how to collect and process feedback through prompted writing and expression. They then learned to structure them through the feedback sandwich method.

On April 15th, we at OSRL were honoured to host an insightful conversation with Paula Wawrzynczyk, a leading s*x educator with 19 years of experience, to discuss the critical importance of s*x education 🌟

The conversation brought together folks from King’s family as well as those outside to reflect on personal experiences related to s*x education, the challenges of s*x education in different cultures, and the need for open spaces to talk about s*xuality. We also ended up having much important conversations about the realities of q***rness in Nepal, q***r identities, s*xual pleasure, s*xual health services, educational culture and s*x education and so on 💬✨

A big thank you to Sanskriti Pandey for coordinating this conversation!

On April 2, 2025, the Office of Safe and Respectable Learning (OSRL) at King’s College hosted a session on 'Intersectionality, the Wheel of Power, and Access to Economic Participation' as part of 'पहिचान', an ongoing module aimed at fostering critical conversations on identity and inclusion. Facilitated by Sid and Sushobhan, the session encouraged first-year business students to explore how gender, caste, class, geography, and s*xuality shape access to economic opportunities. ✨

The session began with 'Log Kya Kahenge?', an interactive activity that sparked discussions on societal perceptions of diverse identities in business. Participants then engaged in the 'Wheel of Power' exercise, mapping out their own privileges and marginalizations to understand how intersectionality influences access to education, governance, healthcare, and financial resources. 🔄

One of the key takeaways was the realization that no identity exists in isolation and that power and marginalization shift based on intersecting factors. The session also incorporated insights from the 'REVAMPing Masculinities Workshop' by The YP Foundation, equipping students with deeper perspectives on gender and social dynamics. 📚

We extend our gratitude to Meraki Chhen for facilitating this engaging session and inspiring meaningful discussions on masculinities and intersectionality.💡

We, at OSRL, met Laetitia Chabannes, an entrepreneur, social impact assessor and podcast creator, and had a sharing of ideas and experiences regarding the work that we do.

Despite the geographic distance and socio-political and cultural differences between France and Nepal, the challenges, bottlenecks and resistance we face while working in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice were similar.

We also shared the different kinds of tools and activities that we use during our sessions, workshops and events. Laetitia shared with us about ‘Diversity Fresco’, a facilitation tool that they have been trained to use in their work. The ‘Diversity Fresco’ was developed by Essec Business School in collaboration with Belugames, and is a set of concept cards that facilitate discussion about prejudice, stereotypes and biases.

The conversation was refreshing and left us inspired with motivation and new ideas. We look forward to actualizing and materializing continued conversations and collaborations.🌻🙌
