Call for MMSN Monthly Blog Submissions – 2026

On behalf of the Editorial Board of the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal (MMSN), I am pleased to invite submissions for our January 2026 MMSN Monthly Blog.

We welcome original, reflective, and engaging blog pieces that share personal experiences in the high altitude and outdoors, including but not limited to: Hiking and trekking, Mountaineering and wall/rock climbing, Rafting and other water-based adventures, Cycling and trail running and any outdoor journey where health, resilience, risk, or learning intersect with nature

These blogs aim to capture the adventurous experience, highlighting lessons related to physical endurance, mental strength, safety, teamwork, environmental awareness, or medical perspectives in austere settings.
Important Dates
Submission Deadline: January 28, 2026
Publication Date: January 31, 2026

Submissions will be featured on the official MMSN platform, giving contributors an opportunity to share their stories with a growing community passionate about mountain medicine and outdoor health.

We are excited to invite you to an interactive session on Wall Climbing with Case Scenario. This session blends essential climbing skills with practical medical decision-making in a controlled environment.

Event details:
• Date: Saturday, 10 January 2026
• Venue: Astreak Climbing Center, Thamel
• Entry fee: NPR 400

Session highlights:
• Basic rope knots
• Introduction to wall climbing gear and equipment
• Introduction to wall climbing and belaying skills
• Basics of ATLS protocol using case scenarios

Seats are limited. Female participation is highly encouraged.

We are delighted to announce that our Experience Sharing Session on the Oxford Elective has concluded successfully.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ranjeet Ghimire and Dr. Rebanta Khadka for sharing their reflections on their two‑month clinical rotation at Oxford University. Their insights into the academic environment, clinical practices, and personal lessons from Oxford enriched the session with valuable perspectives and inspiration.

Dear Members,

We are delighted to announce that our Experience Sharing Session on the HRA Pheriche Aid Post (Fall Season 2025), held on December 28 2025, has concluded successfully.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Prince Singh for sharing his reflections on serving as a volunteer doctor at the high-altitude aid post. His insights into the challenges and lessons from Pheriche, along with his account of the successful summit of Mt. Lobuche East, enriched the session with valuable experiences and inspiration.

We are also grateful to Dr. Buddha Basnyat, Dr. Kamal Thapa, and Mr. Thaneshwor Bhandari from the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) for joining the program and sharing their perspectives, which added depth and context to the discussion.

Dear MMSN members,

I am delighted to announce the official release of the MMSN Newsletter 2025 (Volume 17) today.

My sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Buddha Basnyat and Dr Kamal Thapa for their valuable contributions including the HRA Medical Report 2024-2025 and an inspiring President's Welcome notes that will surely encourage the upcoming and emerging professionals in mountain and wilderness medicine.

I also express my gratitude to all the contributors whose thoughtful articles have made this edition rich, insightful and relevant.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the editorial team whose hard work made this publication possible: our Assistant Editors Ms. Grishma Timilsina, Mr. Jagat Bhatta, Mr. Dilliraj Pandey, and Mr. Aron Shrestha. I also wish to specially acknowledge Dr. Ranjeet Ghimire for his excellent work on the newsletter’s layout and visual design.

As I share this final newsletter of the year, I also complete my service as your Chief Editor of MMSN for 2025.Serving MMSN in this role has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity and the growth it has provided. We are delighted to invite you to an Experience Sharing Session on HRA Pheriche Aid Post (Fall Season 2025), featuring stories from our Pheriche team.

The Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA), in collaboration with MMSN, has been operating a high-altitude aid post at Pheriche twice a year during the spring and fall seasons.

In this session, we will hear from Dr. Prince Singh as he reflects on the experiences, learnings, and skills gained while serving as a volunteer doctor at the aid post.
