The 5-day "Lime-Stabilized Soil (LSS) Technology" under the UTHAN Project was successfully completed on 16 April 2026. 🌸🤝
This training, conducted with a focus on the technical aspects of earthquake-resistant building construction, has prepared skilled masons for safe construction in Tilagufa.
🏆 Highlights
🛠️ Visible Results: During the training, the participants completed 4 roofs and plaster work in 2 houses.
🏗️ Earthquake-Resistant Technology: During the construction, practice has been taken to make the house completely earthquake-resistant by using stiffeners and bands in the right places, following the National Building Code of Conduct.
👷 Skilled Manpower: A total of 15 skilled manpower, including 14 local masons from Tilagufa and 1 technician from the municipality, have been fully trained in this new technology.
🧬 Technical Mixture: Development of skills in preparing the right mixture (Ratio) of lime, ash, soil and lead by scientifically identifying and testing local soil
💰 Affordable and Sustainable: The foundation has been laid for building strong houses from one's own resources, reducing the burden of expensive cement and transportation costs.
🗳️ Policy Commitment: The ward chairman of Tilagufa-2 has announced that this technology will be included in the ward budget and annual program from the upcoming plan selection process.
🏔️ Local Resolution: The people's representatives and participants have expressed their commitment to use this technology, which suits the geography of Karnali, in all new houses to be built.
Glimpses of the Closing Ceremony:
The program, chaired by the ward chairman of Tilagufa Municipality Ward No. 2, was attended by the enthusiastic presence of the Executive Director of PACE Nepal, media persons and local stakeholders. The effective facilitation of CRS Nepal's Architect Engineer Mr. Rupesh Shrestha and Head Mason Mr. Sarju Chaudhary made the training very practical and result-oriented.
Conclusion:
This beautiful partnership between Caritas Germany, Caritas Nepal, PACE Nepal (PACE-Nepal), Tilagufa Municipality and CRS Nepal has now It has inspired the settlements to build safe, disaster- and earthquake-resistant housing! ❤️🏔️
