As the director of Bridges of Kindness I would be remiss if I did not formally thank Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye - NPPA, the Executive Board, and my friend the outgoing NPPA President Manohar Shrestha for this Award of Appreciation. There is no way I could have done this by myself. Without the help of NPPA, the donors, and the volunteers here and in Nepal, none of our projects would be possible. Being able to operate under the umbrella of this organization has been essential to our efforts. Personally, I have been a grateful Life Member of this organization since 2016. I am eternally thankful for the friendship, support, and encouragement I received from this organization, it's members, and the community. It has been a Blessing. So, thank you 🙏🏻

Most recently, Bridges of Kindness has focused our efforts on providing educational support, school materials, enrichment experiences, and opportunities to needy children in Nepal. Though we only operate in two districts so far, we now have several children on scholarships in college in both Kathmandu and Bharatpur. We have even built a library at the Bindeshwari School in Ratnanagar Chitwan. There with the help of staff and volunteers we also identified gifted and talented students. We have continued to monitor their progress and stay in touch with them even after they have gone forward to their next schools. To help shorten commutes and offer an early incentive for their academic success, we have provided two of them with new bicycles. They are certainly deserving, and these bicycles will be big time savers. So congratulations to our 9th graders Dipti Khanal now attending Jana Jagriti Secondary School, and Salan Gurung now attending Sharadpur Secondary School for a job well done. Everyone is quite proud of you and we wish you both continued success!
This is the first step in our continuing relationship with these children, and also a recognition of their academic success. We'd like to offer our deepest appreciation to three anonymous sponsors for making these bicycles possible, and to Anushrut Kaji Thapa for his help getting these bicycles to the children.
To help these and other children we definitely need your help and support. Your donations are always welcome and tax deductible.

This month's America Nepal Society's Meet and Greet was very productive and informative. On behalf of Bridges of Kindness, I joined this month's speakers, and I definitely learned something from the other presenters. There were a number of good suggestions and offers of assistance made by members regarding Bridges of Kindness projects made after the meeting.
There certainly is a fellowship of cooperation found at ANS. Especially regarding work that is beneficial to others, both here and in Nepal. Whether it is education, culture, economic development, energy, travel, or any number of topics there are passionate people that are part of this organization. Often networking and helping and supporting one another. It makes driving from Rockville Maryland, to Burke Virginia much less arduous, and much more joyful. I was glad represent Bridges of Kindness and to be a part of this month's meeting.

Suvan Aryal thank you for the additional photos. They are most appreciated.

Everyone at Bridges of Kindness is beyond happy to see pictures of Julie Palais visiting the Bindeshwari School. Her encouragement and advice has been inspirational. She most importantly, is the first children's book author to visit the library that we helped build on the campus. Her first book,"Sathi, The Street Dog from Kathmandu" is already part of the library, and the children love it. Her second book entitled, "Sahara, The rescue dog from Bhaktapur, Nepal," now also resides on the shelves of the ever-growing library. Both these books are written in English and Nepali, they are wonderfully illustrated, and their heart touching stories raise awareness and compassion for Nepal's many street dogs.
Julie also know as Julu Julu, is a woman of many talents and accomplishments. Besides being an author, she's a scientist, and animal rights activist. She holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Geological and Earth Sciences, as well as a Masters Degree in Law. Julie is part of multiple projects in Nepal, and an active member of the America Nepal Society. She is an exceptional person, and everything she does is filled with kindness and concern for the planet and all of its inhabitants. We are so glad she made time to visit the school, and it's faculty.

One hundred and fifty-three students attend the Bindeshwari School, which has classes from kindergarten to eighth grade. Around ninety of them live there at the school full time. These children are mostly from the Chepang community, and their home village is roughly 10 km away. The kids are wonderful, they study hard, and are filled with curiosity. Though there are smiles, their life is not easy. The school largely depends on local donations to help feed these growing children, and it often struggles to feed the students who live there nutritious food. Though they receive help, it is difficult to feed 153 kids; and meals are often protein deficient. Tiffin or lunch regularly consists of only rice mixed with turmeric and salt.
Normally, Bridges of Kindness focuses on school materials, books for the library we built there, and technology for the children. However, this week we delivered eggs and fresh vegetables. We hope this helps a little bit. Currently, the kids are studying for exams. It's hard to concentrate when you're hungry, or deprived of proper nutrition.
We will continue to offer support and help to this school, and the children who live there, We think it's worth it.
However, it takes your help to make these efforts possible. Every donation counts. Large or small they are all appreciated. Please join us. Together we can make a difference.

Bridges of Kindness operates under the umbrella of Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye - NPPA, and all donations are tax deductible.
