ЁЯТз тАЬWhen water becomes a daily battle for survival, humanity must respond with action.тАЭ ЁЯТз
Today marked a historic beginning for the people of Khayarmara, a remote village hidden in the Chure range of Bardibas MunicipalityтАУ5, where the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Khayarmara Drinking Water Project Nepal (GG2573901) was successfully conducted in the presence of Mayor Mr. Pralhad Kumar Chhetri, Rotarians of Rotary Club of Bardibas, local residents, and Past President of Rotary Club of Dhulikhel & Primary Contact Rtn. Ranjeev Shrestha.
For generations, 201 households with 908 villagers have suffered from extreme drinking water scarcity. Women, elderly people, and children have walked hours through dense forests and dangerous hills carrying heavy loads of water from rivers and distant springs nearly 3 km away. During dry seasons, many families survived with only a few liters of water a day. The journey was not only exhausting but terrifying тАФ local people frequently faced threats from wild animals like leopards and tigers while fetching water.
This project is more than pipelines and tanks; it is about dignity, safety, health, and giving children a future where they attend school carrying books instead of water containers.
Heartfelt gratitude to Rotary Club of Novato, District 5150, Kathy & Russ Ketron Donor Advised Fund, The Rotary Foundation, Rotary Club of Bardibas, and every helping hand behind this life-changing mission.
