On 19 July 2026, Kayapalat, in collaboration with UNDP Nepal, successfully organized the Bhalakusari Session in Janakpurdham, Madhesh, bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds to share their lived experiences, concerns, and aspirations.
The session created an open and safe space where young people engaged in honest conversations on meaningful political participation, inclusive governance, shrinking civic space, digital safety, and the role of all three levels of government in delivering responsive and accountable governance.
One message resonated throughout the discussion: young people are informed, engaged, and ready to shape Nepal's democratic future.
Participants shared that although they continue to raise their voices through community engagement, dialogue, social media, and peaceful civic action, many still feel excluded from decision-making processes. They also highlighted the growing challenges of online harassment, intimidation, and misinformation, which often discourage young people from speaking out.
Despite these challenges, their commitment remains stronger than ever. They reaffirmed their determination to continue advocating for inclusion, social justice, accountable governance, and a civic space where every young person can participate freely and meaningfully.
The insights, recommendations, and priorities emerging from the session will feed into the upcoming Manthan dialogue, ensuring that youth perspectives contribute to evidence-based policy discussions and democratic decision-making.
