Best of Luck to Our SEE Students! 🎓

Today, five of our Grade 10 students leave the Chharka Student Hostel, Kathmandu, beginning their journey towards Dunai to appear for their SEE examinations.

These students have come a long way—from the remote village of Chharka in Dolpo to Kathmandu—carrying with them the hopes of their families and community. Their journey reflects not only their dedication to education but also the collective effort to create opportunities for children from one of Nepal’s most isolated regions.

After completing their exams, they will return to Chharka to spend some precious time with their families before coming back to the hostel to continue their studies and pursue their dreams.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience. As they take this important step, we wish them the very best of luck and success in their SEE.

Your journey inspires us all—keep going and shine bright! ✨

Gratitude to Venerable Norbu for the Losar Dinner and Generous Support

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Venerable Norbu for inviting our students to a special Losar dinner and for his generous support.

On the third day of Losar, Venerable Norbu, a Buddhist monk originally from Chharka and currently residing in Taiwan, invited our students to a delightful dinner at Sky Momo Rooftop Restaurant in Boudha. Although he could not join in person, the dinner was kindly hosted on his behalf by one of his family members. It was a joyful evening filled with warmth, celebration, and community spirit.

Earlier, he had also made a generous donation of NPR 50,000 to Dolpo Tomorrow in support of our ongoing projects—supporting the community school in Chharka and running the student hostel in Kathmandu.

The group photo taken with the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa in the background captures an unforgettable moment of unity and shared commitment. It reflects our collective effort in paving the path toward a brighter future for the children and the community of Chharka.

Venerable Norbu has been one of the dedicated community members who has stood with us since the founding of Dolpo Tomorrow and its mission to revive education in Chharka. His continued encouragement and support mean a great deal to all of us.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Venerable Norbu and his family members for their unwavering support and generosity.

Thank you, Venerable Lopon Sonam, and your beloved family, for visiting our hostel.

On the second day of Losar 2026, Venerable Lopon Sonam, accompanied by his family from Chharka, visited the Chharka Student Hostel in Kathmandu. On this auspicious occasion, he kindly sponsored a special meal for the students and made generous donations to Dolpo Tomorrow in support of the hostel.

Lopon’s brother, Mr. Kunga, personally joined our students in preparing the meal in the hostel’s kitchen. The family spent the entire day at the hostel, cooking, sharing, and enjoying the meal together, making the offering even more heartfelt and meaningful.
Lopon Sonam makes this generous visit once every year. His continued support beautifully reflects how the Chharka community is brought closer through this project and how deeply they care for and support their children’s education.

🎯 Exciting news for Chharka students!

Bodo Peters, Chairman of Bambusschule e.V., a Germany-based NGO that has long supported Chharka School, has brought modern bows and arrows all the way from Germany for our students!

Archery has long been a beloved tradition in the Himalayas, and in Chharka, it’s a sport our community enjoys whenever there’s a chance to gather. Thanks to Bodo’s generous gift, our students can now experience this sport in a whole new way.

We are thrilled to announce a grand Archery Contest at Chharka School in September 2026, during Bodo’s visit with the Bambusschule team—let the arrows fly! 🏹✨

Watch the video as Bodo carefully brings and packs these amazing sets for our young archers.

Happy New Year 2026 from Dolpo Tomorrow

As we welcome the New Year, we pause with deep gratitude and pride to reflect on what we achieved together in 2025.

This year, the steadfast efforts of Dolpo Tomorrow, fueled by the trust and generosity of our donors and friends, made it possible to:

• 📚 Continue supporting Shree Chharka Bhot Basic School, providing cost-free and quality education to over 90 students from Chharka and several other remote villages of Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality, Dolpo. Even during the harsh winter months, the school continued uninterrupted classes—thanks to our dedicated teachers, staff, and the facilities we have built over the years.

• 🏫 Expand school infrastructure, including a well-furnished new school kitchen building, hostel facilities, ground pavement, and waste-management incinerators.

• 🧒 Sustain the Chharka Students’ Hostel in Kathmandu, ensuring winter schooling and access to higher education beyond Dolpo for students above Grade 8 from Shree Chharka Bhot Basic School.

• 🩺 Move forward with community healthcare and well-being initiatives.

• 🌱 Strengthen our long-term vision for education, culture, and dignity for the people of Dolpo.

Today, Shree Chharka Bhot Basic School stands as the only school in the entire Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality functioning year-round with proper management, sufficient teachers, and adequate facilities—ensuring cost-free and quality education for over 90 students. Alongside this, our Kathmandu hostel ensures that these children have access to continued and higher education opportunities beyond Dolpo.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors, well-wishers, teachers, volunteers, and the Chharka community. Your belief in our work is what keeps Dolpo Tomorrow moving forward—step by step, stone by stone.

🙏 Thank you for walking this journey with us.

✨ Looking ahead to 2026, we invite you to continue supporting our mission:
• Share our work
• Visit our projects
• Sponsor a child or a teacher
• Contribute in any way you can

Together, we can build hope—from Dolpo, for tomorrow.

Students Fetching Water from a Frozen River | Chharka, Dolpo

When winter freezes the river in Chharka, the water pipeline stops. Every day, students walk half a kilometer to collect water from the icy stream for their school.

In the biting cold, senior students help the school cook before and after classes—learning responsibility, care, and resilience far beyond their years.

While families migrate to winter mountains with their livestock, these children stay in the school hostel to continue their education.

Even in deep winter and isolation, learning goes on—made possible by the strength of the Dolpo-pa children and the shared support of Dolpo Tomorrow, partner NGOs, and individual donors.

A Journey for Education: From Chharka to Kathmandu

Recently in late October, Dolpo received a heavy snowfall that covered the mountains and trails in deep winter conditions.

Yet, a group of our students from Chharka School began their long and challenging journey to Kathmandu Hostel.

These children attend the community school in Chharka during the summer. When winter arrives, they travel for days across snow-covered high passes to reach Kathmandu and keep their education going.

The journey is never easy.
With deep snow blocking the trails, villagers first send yaks to open a path. Students, elders, and those needing medical care walk together across icy mountains, frozen rivers, and narrow gorges — camping under the open sky when night falls.
After three full days of difficult travel, they finally reach the nearest road and take jeeps toward Jomsom and beyond.

For these young learners, access to education comes with high personal risk and sacrifice.
Thankfully, this year all students reached our hostel in Kathmandu safely.

Snow, isolation, and the lack of basic services remain the daily reality for many Himalayan communities like Dolpo. But the children and their families continue to show incredible strength and determination.

At Dolpo Tomorrow:
• In Chharka, we support their community school.
• In Kathmandu, we run a hostel for their winter and further education.
• We ensure their learning does not stop — even when the mountains make life difficult.

Join us in supporting their journey.
Together, we can help them build a brighter future for Dolpo.

We sincerely thank Die Bambusschule e.V., ICDF, Himalaya Currents Inc., Nepalhilfe Beilngries e.V., the Helping Friends Group, Dany Gerhig, and all individual donors for supporting us in these invaluable projects.

Winter Session Started at Chharka School

Winter in Dolpo is full of challenges. Temperatures fall far below zero, snow blocks every path in and out, and the scattered villages become completely cut off from one another. The harsh cold doesn't just slow life down—it shuts down almost all public services. Schools, health posts, government offices, and even the municipal administration retreat for nearly six months, with essential work shifting to temporary offices in the district headquarters.

Yet, against all these odds, community schools supported by local NGOs continue to find ways to keep education alive through the winter months.

In Chharka, as in previous years, the local team of Dolpo Tomorrow has appointed a dedicated group of five local teachers and one cook for the winter school. The new winter session began on 10 November, right after a short 10-day break from the summer session, which ended on 30 October. The winter program will continue for 2–3 months, depending on weather and logistics.

Students from Grade 1 to 7 attend the winter school in the village, while students from Grade 8 and above join our winter school in Kathmandu, held at our hostel in Gokarna.

Soon, the people of Chharka will migrate with their animals to the winter mountains, leaving the village empty for months. During this pastoral migration, the students stay at the school hostel under the caretaking of the teachers.

Thriving in one of the harshest environments on earth, the people of Dolpo do not allow snow or freezing winds to stop them—as long as they receive a little support. And that is exactly what Dolpo Tomorrow strives to provide. Thanks to the winter school initiative, students are now able to complete their yearly courses thoroughly and maintain the quality of their education.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. We sincerely thank each and every one of you for standing with us in this meaningful and life-changing work.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to our five dedicated local teachers and cook who have shown extraordinary courage and commitment to make the winter school a reality.
