Honoring Our Shared Planet: World Environment Day at Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery
Morning: The World Environment Day program opened with the sacred recitation of the Eight Auspicious Prayers, the Refuge Prayer, and the Bodhichitta Prayer, setting a compassionate, purposeful tone for the day.
Following the invocations, Venerable Khenpo Chonyi Rangdol, Head of the Monastery’s Environmental Club, delivered an inspiring address on the profound connection between spiritual practice and ecological responsibility. The morning concluded beautifully with a collective dedication of merit, reinforcing everyone's shared commitment to safeguarding our planet.
Afternoon: due to the Dharma transmission of the collected teachings of the Late Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche being bestowed by Venerable Choje Lama Rinpoche, we were unable to carry out the planned monastery cleaning and restoration activities. Nevertheless, as part of our commitment to environmental conservation, we successfully planted trees, contributing to a greener and healthier environment.
We extend our deepest gratitude to:
The Chairman and Dedicated Members of the Environmental Club;
The Shedras’ Environment club members for their spiritual guidance and leadership.
The Nuns’ Environment Club members of Thrangu Tara Abbey for their invaluable participation and effort.
Through the collective dedication of their efforts, we successfully honored our commitment to the Earth. On this World Environment Day, we proudly reaffirm our devotion to protecting nature, fostering environmental awareness, and cultivating a sustainable world for the benefit of all sentient beings.
