Joint Youth Delegation to the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025

YOUTH CAN is pleased to announce its joint delegation with the Nepal–Pakistan Youth Council to the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025, that took place in Doha, Qatar, from 4–6 November 2025.

Representing this united effort for youth-driven social development:

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our organization Youth Council in Action for Nation - YOUTH CAN has officially been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC (2025) 🇺🇳

This recognition marks a powerful milestone in our journey from grassroots action in Nepal to global advocacy for sustainable development, youth empowerment, and human rights.

As an ECOSOC-accredited NGO, we now have a stronger platform to bring the voices of our communities to the global stage — influencing policies, collaborating with international partners, and shaping a more inclusive and just future for all.🌐

Youth Council in Action for Nation - YOUTH CAN's General Secretary Mr. Diwash Khanal participated in the formulation of the Gender Equality (GE) Policy Implementation Action Plan of Lumbini Province with the invitation from UNFPA Nepal on 8th December 2024. It was our honor to participate and contribute our knowledge and expertise.

Mr. Khanal had the opportunity to share YOUTH CAN ideas with Mr. Ram Thapa, Head of UNFPA Lumbini Provincial Office, Ex Secretary of Nepal Government Mr. Pratap Kumar Pathak, and other esteemed civil society delegates to expand further collaboration.

YOUTH CAN delegation to the
Youth delegate Abhishek Chand Thakuri representing Youth Council in Action for Nation - YOUTH CAN attended the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly known as COP29, the 29th United Nations Climate Change conference, which washeld in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November 2024.

Check out what he has to say from his COP experience:
The hectic COP29 demonstrated the urgency we must confront the climate crisis. Big ambitions were discussed, but the actions taken were frequently insufficient. Young people loudly voiced their demands for greater decision-making authority, practical problem-solving strategies, and collaboration with older individuals. It became evident from this experience that we require a climate future that is equitable for everybody.

Overall, my involvement in COP29 gave me a wealth of knowledge about the challenges of international climate action. I became aware of the value of teamwork, the strength of young voices, and the pressing need to put up significant ideas. I pledge to use what I've learned to take meaningful action both inside and outside of my community.
