The Udaaya Samaj consisting of nine caste groups was formed in NS 1117 with the express aim of preserving and reforming Udaaya Social customs and traditions. Jayasthiti Malla, a fifteen century King, divided the Udaaya group into nine occupationals groups. Bania (local trader and ayurvedic pharmaceutic)
