🌏World Environment Day 2026 Celebration 🌿

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Nepal Evangelical Lutheran Church (NELC) and Lutheran Community Welfare Society (LCWS) organized environmental awareness and tree plantation programs in five communities in collaboration with local schools, a youth club, church members, and community people. The five events were held in coordination with the institutions: Shree Basic School of Ratuwamai Municipality-05, Larikatta; Shree Janta Basic School of Gauradaha Municipality-06, Kohabara; Shree Jyoti Secondary School of Kamal Rural Municipality-02, Bhutlung; Sohal Lutheran Church of Jahada Rural Municipality-05, Sohal; and Babiyabirta Youth Club of Rangeli Municipality-01, Babiyabirta.

The events focused on raising awareness about climate change and its impacts, encouraging environmental responsibility among young people, and promoting collective action for a greener future. Students actively participated in debate programs, while community members joined hands in tree plantation activities at schools, church premises, and barren lands.

A total of 406 participants (211 males and 195 females) took part in the events, reflecting strong community engagement and commitment toward environmental conservation. During the campaign, 461 plants and tree saplings were distributed and planted across premises of schools, church compounds, and public spaces.

The celebration served as a reminder that addressing climate change requires collective effort and local action. Through awareness sharing, student engagement in debate program on environmental issues, and tree plantation activities, participants contributed to building greener and more climate-resilient communities.

NELC and LCWS sincerely thank all participating schools, youth groups, community members, and local stakeholders for their enthusiastic involvement. We are also grateful to Lutheran World Federation LWF Nepal , Australian Aid, ALWS, and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for their valuable support in making these events successful.

Together, every tree planted and every awareness shared brings us one step closer to a healthier and more sustainable future.
