As part of May Measure Month 2026, Dayahang Rai, one of Nepal’s most popular actors, shared an important message on the value of regular blood pressure checks during an awareness event at Mandala Theatre Nepal.

This three-month campaign, organized in collaboration with International Society of Hypertension and Nepal Development Society, aims to raise awareness about hypertension and encourage everyone to know their numbers for a healthier future.

Nepal Development Society organized signing ceremony to establish the Center of Excellence (CoE) under the ENSURE Nepal Project, bringing together key stakeholders including recruitment agencies, pre-departure orientation training centers, and health screening centers.

ENSURE-Nepal is La Isla Network’s project funded by cooperative agreement with United States Department of State. The project is being implemented in partnership with PNCC and POURAKHI Nepal, with Nepal Development Society as the lead organization. The project is piloting interventions to address challenges faced by labor migrants and to promote safer, more ethical migration practices in Nepal.

A Municipality-level Project Advisory Committee (MPAC) meeting was held on 6 January 2026 at Hotel Subham, Chaubiskoti. Ms. Gita Shah presented the proposed project focusing on occupational health and heat stress among manual construction workers in Bharatpur. A total of 16 participants attended the meeting, including the Deputy Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Deputy Administrative Chief, Administrative Officer, Section Heads from Health, Education, Women and Children, and Physical Infrastructure Sections, along with representatives from other relevant municipal sections and stakeholders. Municipal representatives appreciated the evidence-based approach, expressed interest in the upcoming research findings, and committed to supporting the project moving forward.

On 17 December 2025, Nepal Development Society officially handed over the Final Guideline on Household-Level Waste Management to the Honorable Mayor of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Mr. Manoj Kumar Sah, in the presence of respected department heads from the Environment, Agriculture, and Health Departments. The handover marks an important step toward improving household-level waste management in the city. The process to endorse the guideline through the Municipal Executive (Karyapalika) has already begun, and it will be presented in tomorrow’s Karyapalika meeting, from where the approval process will move forward. Once approved, the guideline is expected to be implemented soon, contributing to better environmental protection, public health, and sustainable urban development in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City.
