Yesterday, Blind Youth Association Nepal, Chitwan Chapter successfully conducted a “Leadership Development and SRHR” session under its community-based program at Chitwan Deaf Secondary School, Bajarhatti Rapti Municipality
The session was specially organized for persons with deaf disabilities with the objective of strengthening leadership skills, awareness, and understanding of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
Key learning highlights from the program included:
🔹 Introduction to disability and understanding different perspectives of disability
🔹 Concept of leadership and the relationship between disability and leadership
🔹 Leadership skills and characteristics for effective participation and self-advocacy
🔹 Importance of participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes
🔹 Concept and importance of inclusive leadership
🔹 Menstrual hygiene and personal care awareness
🔹 Awareness on Good Touch and Bad Touch for safety and protection
Program facilitation:
🔹 Leadership session was facilitated by Youth Champion Laximi Tamang (Physical Disability)
🔹 SRHR and awareness session was facilitated by Youth Champion Khem Bache Magar (Blind)
The program created a meaningful space for learning, discussion, and empowerment among participants, encouraging confidence, participation, and inclusive leadership within the community.
