Nabin Munankarmi, President and Frienson Pradhan from the Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN) had the opportunity to meet with Hon. Dr. Ojaswee Sherchand, Chairperson of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee, for a meaningful discussion on biotechnology and life sciences in Nepal.
The discussion focused on important issues including brain drain, the need for recognition and licensing in biotechnology, and the overall development of the biotechnology ecosystem in Nepal. Hon. Dr. Sherchan assured us that these concerns would be taken forward for further discussion, and we remain hopeful for positive progress ahead.
We also highlighted how professional societies in Nepal are voluntarily ready to support the nation through scientific expertise, policy input, research, innovation, and technical consultation whenever needed.
BSN hopes to continue building stronger dialogue and collaboration among all stakeholders of biotechnology including academia, universities, researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, government bodies, students, and scientific communities for the advancement of biotechnology and life sciences in Nepal.
